Brendan Potter's birthday celebrations

Potter family helping Brendan to celebrate his birthday at Gosford Golf Club tonight

We had a great night enjoying the Italian Night at Gosford Golf Club tonight along with the meat raffles and Badge Draw. The Italian Menu was extensive and plenty of it with the added bonus of a slice of Brendan's birthday cake.

By now the most of you would have read the information email sent out to all Member's regarding the financial position of the Club which also advised that Greg Harrison has been appointed as the new Club Treasurer. Greg has also volunteered his time to take on the role of "Operations Manager" between now and the AGM. Greg will effectively be in charge of the running of the Club and a GM will not be appointed at this time.

The Bosrd as a whole will take a more active role in assisting Greg with his duties, and management and staff will be called on to step up and help to get us through this time.

This brings me to the issue of Member involvement - We have had three Members who have put up their hands to join the board which is fantastic news. We rely heavily on volunteer workers at the club
In various forms whether it be Board duties, or within Clubhouse Maintenance, Course Management or Administration Management. Parking Management is an upcoming issue which is currently being addressed which will require assistance to administer.

It is time we asked ourselves not what the Club can do for us - but what can we do for the Club!

Think about this long and hard - we have a great golf course at our disposal. Is it not worth every Member to put their best foot forward to get the Club through this financial issue and turn the Club around.

My contribution is to not cut my hours of volunteer work but indeed try to do more.

What is your contribution going to be???   Greg would love to hear from you.

My playing partners were Fran James and Lesley Gregory who were great company.  The company was good, the golf was not. However we did have some good highlights the best of which was all three of us having 3 Pointers at the 8th.

Not too happy about having his habitat invaded

Light showers did not interfere with the F-Troop volunteers today.

We had eleven volunteers to share the work load and we managed to get some good projects done.

On hand were Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Geoff Bridge, Rob Benson, Warren Gray, Garry Trigg, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

The Tree Gang of Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge and Garry Trigg worked on the 4th fairway and the 16th fairway removing dead and nuisance trees.

Rob Benson and Warren Gray did a great job of removing leaves and debris from the clubhouse guttering.

Peter Martin and Don Nicholls were kept busy working around the course on pick up, fixed the notice board glass panels and helped out at the Spike Room.

Di Beechey worked around the Clubhouse including cleaning out the Spike Room.

Anne Burgess helped Di with the Spike Room and tidied up at the BBQ area and Camellia Way.

I worked at the Bush Toilet area including raking and weeding the gardens and started work on cleaning up the Ladies Garden at the 13th Tee and around the dam.

We all enjoyed a lovely morning tea - Iced Buns, fruit pastries and fresh fruit. Thank you Chef Alice!

The course was very busy with the BW Vets who were not put off by the light showers so we managed to work our way around them getting some good projects done regardless of the weather.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Happy ducks in the 3rd dam in the pouring rain today

Golf - Saturday 21st February 2015

The weather held okay today with just some light showers in the early morning.  The golf went ahead with no delays and the Garden Wedding was late afternoon after the weather cleared. Yesterday's Garden Wedding also went ahead on schedule with just some very light rain which was not heavy enough to stop the celebration.  The Clubhouse has been very busy this weekend with three weddings, birthday parties etc keeping all our reception rooms busy and also a marque used downstairs for this afternoon's Wedding. We are expecting 100 vet players on Monday so it is great to see the Golf Club so busy.
