Golf - Tuesday 26th November 2013 - Closing Day

We had a very enjoyable day for our Tuesday Closing Day.  Not too hot and no rain.

My playing partners were Lesley Gregory, Sue Hutton and Sandy Laybutt and we had some good highlights the best of which was Lesley's gobbler birdie putt at the 14th after she had scrambled her drive through the bunker to the edge of the green.  Our team was only one shot off the pace for a trophy and we were happy to win a ball each for our efforts.

It was good to see a lot of Christmas colour among our players showing some holiday spirit.

F-Troop - Monday 25th November 2013

We were very light on for volunteers with a lot of our regulars away on holidays or with health issues.

We had on hand Peter Martin, Geoff Bridge, Garry Trigg, Di Beechey, Carolyn Buttsworth, Jan Martin and some late help from Trevor Harrison.

We had a lot of Members and visitors at the club today to support the popular Sue Suters Charity Day due to start at 11.30 am shotgun start.  We had to scatter around the course to get our work done before morning tea.

Geoff and Garry were on pick up duty and there was plenty of that as we had not been able to get out on the course for two weeks.  There was a lot of loose timber to pick up and garden rubbish where we had been working in the interim.

Peter was jack of all trades including pick up, helping Di and Carolyn with tree trimming, repairing and replacing the blind in the Trike Room.  With the help of Trevor Harrison repaired the blocked sink at the
bush toilets and picked up the shrub trimmings at the front gardens. Peter also transferred some more garden rubbish bins to our garden rubbish area behind the practice nets and transferred some more Agavi plants.

Di & Carolyn cleaned up the car park, BBQ area, underneath the clubhouse and trimmed the front garden.
Di has also replaced the pump in the water feature at the 1st tee.

I worked mainly out on the course cleaning up at the bush toilets, finished the lavender gardens at the 16th, cleaned up the Tranquility Garden at the 6th, Ladies 3rd Tee, 5th Tee, transported some agavi plants to the back of the clubhouse, trimmed back the herb garden & weeded, planted in three new Agavi plants, with the help of Peter transferred the rest of the spare Agavi Plants from the 14th to the Wedding Garden area, cleaned up a bit of the Wedding Garden, re-secured a rose at the Wedding Garden.

Morning tea was very welcome with a slice still warm from the oven - Thanks Chef John!

The weather closed in after morning tea and we had some thunder and lightning as well as heavy rain and showers which was not good for the golfers.  It did clear in a short time but there are still scattered showers around.  The course is draining amazingly well and is looking good for the drenching.  The dams are full which is great for the hot summer ahead.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Sunday 24th November 2013 - 2013 Nagger's Cup

We had a great day for the 2013 Naggers Cup - Blue sky and sunshine and a course devoid of puddles and mud which may have been expected after such a deluge of rain after the last few days.  The course drainage and greens and working a treat.  It was good to see so many players stay on for Presentation this year.

Our playing partners were Wally & Fay Bailey and we had a great day out on the village green (and green it was). We did have some highlights especially when Jan hit her sand wedge beautifully over the bunkers onto the green putting distance from the hole (just as she was instructed) and then got out of the bunker in one at the 9th.  It was a fun day enjoyed by all of our golfers even though some of them are threatening to play in the De Facto Division next year.

Golf - Saturday 23rd November 2013

The weather this morning was not kind with severe thunder & lightning as well as some heavy rain was enough to bring the field in during the morning.  Fortunately the afternoon cleared up and it was like a new day which was good for the 4.00pm wedding in the Wedding Garden and the view would have substantially improved from the Sunset Room for the Wedding Reception.
