Golf - Tuesday 30th June 2015

Glennis English, Leonie Casey and Chris Shaw - WINNERS 3BBB VS PAR

Norma Cubis, Lyn Cruickshanks and Judy Verlander - RUNNERS UP 3BBB VS PAR

Yvonne Cumming and Julie Hazzard - my playing partners
at the first tee.

We had a touch of winter this morning for our first nine holes - overcast, cold and rainy. Thankfully the sun finally came out and the afternoon was more comfortable.  The course is still very wet and the carts being driven irresponsibly have caused damage to the softer areas of the course.

My playing partners were Yvonne Cumming and Julie Hazzard.  We had some good three pointers which were unfortunately negated by wipes, however our highlight was finishing with a plus score.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies CCWGA 3BBB Versus PAR - Qualifying Round.

We had 57 starters.

RESULTS:

3BBB QUALIFIERS: Glennis English, Leonie Casey and Chris Shaw - Plus 9

SECOND: Lyn Cruickshanks, Norma Cubis and Judy Verlander - Plus 8

THIRD: Kay Adams, Sandra Coyle and Margaret Maclachlan - Plus 6 on a countback

NO HANDICAPPING TODAY!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me : I did not get a chance to get right around the tables to collect all the highlights of the day - Sheena Asken's team were good players out of luck; Glennis English's team had a couple of birdies and were plus 8 on the front 9; our highlight was getting enough pluses to keep us with a plus end score and my highlight was getting nearest the pin on the 14th hole.

F-Troop Morning Tea - catering for all tastes

We had eleven volunteers this morning which was helpful for our traffic barrier project.

On hand were Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Garry Trigg, Peter Martin, Kevin O'Brien, John Hollebon, Graham Chee, Di Beechey, Carolyn Buttsworth, Jan Martin.

The course was very busy with a Social Charity Day in action. In addition the course was still very wet for heavy vehicles so we kept our projects off the course.

The boys collectively set up a traffic barrier at the school side drain at the back of the clubhouse.  This was done for safety reasons as some vehicles have been accidentally fallen down into the drain. The barriers are in place and have been clearly marked for the convenience of Members and Guests.

Another load of firewood was delivered to a client and some preparation work done at the cart sheds.

John Hollebon made a good start on pruning the Crepe Myrtle Trees on the 10th, 8th and 2nd and also did some repair work on the Wedding Gazebo.

Di Beechey, Carolyn Buttsworth and I worked on shifting some Lilly plants and planting Agapanthus and Clivias at the green space at the 14th Bush Toilets, trimmed the hedge and plants at the 14th roundabout, weeded the garden at the 14th green, trimmed the bird of paradise plants at the 2nd and weeded the gardens at the putting green garden, weeded the garden at the 1st and 10th, checked the water feature and pruned the roses at the putting green.

Morning Tea was a treat today with a wide variety of savoury and sweet munchies. Thanks Chef Ranga!

Next week we hope the course has dried out a lot so that we can get out and do some rubbish pick up and tree maintenance.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

We had a lovely day for golf today - blue sky and sunshine just gorgeous! The only downside was the wet golf course made it hard going through the mud puddles and soft patches.  It will be so good to get some run back on the course. At this time of the year the course will only dry out with heat and wind and hopefully not too much more rain for a while,

We had a fun day on the course with Clyde and Lyn Cruickshanks who were great company - Peter was the big winner of the day with Clyde throwing some really good pars, Lyn and I were good support crew encouraging the boys all the way!

Friday Night 26th June 2015 - world Food Night photos

DESERTS: I was a bit late arriving to get good photos of the deserts - but this will give you a good idea of the popularity

All of this beautiful food plus tea and coffee for 30 people to share!

What a bargain for $25 per head!

It is a shame that the General Members did not get enough notice to respond to this night and it was left to the regular Friday Night Supporters to fill the tables!  I will let you know as early as possible next time so you can get yourselves organised and bring along a table full of your friends to enjoy this night.

The food was lovely - thanks Chef Ranga and thanks to Brad and Emily behind the bar for good service. Sadly tonoght we said goodbye to Emily who has now got a full time job elsewhere.

We had an especially good night because I won the end of month Members Draw ($50) and one of the meat raffles which effectively gave us a free night.  Kevin O'Brien won yet another meat tray that cost us a $2 lottery ticket with Mark Stimpson and we beat the Beechey table for the number of meat raffles as they were a non event tonight (Ron has the man flu)

The next special Night will be a Trivia Night - so I will give you as much notice as possible with details of the night - get in early and book your table which helps with the catering planning.

COME ALONG AND SUPPORT YOUR CLUB ON THESE NIGHTS - IT IS ALL FOR YOU TO ENJOY!

We had a beautiful sunny day to play our Foursomes Championships today - the only downside being the wetness of the course and a very slow playing day (7 hours)

My foursomes partner was Rosemary Cohen and our playing partners were Sandra Inness and Bernadette Kirkman.  We had a lot of laughs along the way and some good highlights from time to time, Bernadette putted well, Sandra and Bernadette also put in some good shots to the green, Rosemary did some great shots to the green and my highlight was getting out of the bunker in one at the 11th. We tangled with a lot of mud.
