Masters Pennant Results - Sunday 29th May 2022

Our Masters players at the 1st tee at Gosford.

Our Masters Pennant team had a great win on the weekend against a strong Magenta team. The wet course was an advantage for the Gosford boys as we have been practicing on a wet course for many months. We won 6 ½ to 1 ½.

The win followed a loss to Newcastle at Newcastle two weeks ago . Newcastle are a very strong team and most of their players play off scratch or better. We were beaten 7 ½ to ½. Well done Gav. We were to play Newcastle at Gosford last week but the game was washed out.

We play Magenta at Magenta next week the boys are looking forward to a firm surface and a win.

F- Troopers Kevin O’Brien, Frank Potter (Nigel Asken) - removal of weed at the 3rd dam.

Our coolest morning this year but we still had 12 volunteers turn up this morning to do what we could do on a wet course.

On hand we had Sam Knox, Trevor Harrison, Kevin O’Brien, Frank Potter, Nigel Asken, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Rob Benson, John Hollebon, Ron Gowing, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were limited as no carts were allowed on the course but we did manage to do some good projects - weed removal from the 3rd dam, wood preparation and delivery, hedge maintenance, Cleaning of paths under the clubhouse, 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden, putting green and practice nets, wedding of gardens at the 1st and 10th, loose timber pick up around the course by foot, weed removal from the 18th tee garden.

We did manage to get in all of our projects before some rain appeared to interrupt our morning tea which was most appreciated.

Fortunately the course did not get a lot of rain which is encouraging for tge next few days.

Golf - Tuesday 24th May 2022

More rain overnight sealed the fate of golf today. The course was very wet and carts were not allowed on the course.

Tomorrow the carts are off again

We had no lady golfers playing today but there were 20 or so ladies that came into the club house to enjoy lunch and a few drinks, coffee etc and enjoyed a social get together given the course was too wet to comfortably play.

Suggestions were put forward that in future if the wet weather persists we should gather for lunch at the clubhouse and spend some social hours together. Even if only the walkers can play golf perhaps the golfers who need carts to play could come in for lunch so all lady members can have the opportunity to socialise together.

Ladies feel free to do that if your golf game is a non event. It is a good way for old and new members get to know each other on a social basis and not just out on the course.

I enjoyed good company and great pizza lunch today so I recommend this therapy.

F-Troop - Monday 23rd May 2022

F-Troop Morning Tea - Nigel Asken, John Hollebon, Kevin O’Brien (Ron Gowing, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, Sam Knox, Di Beechey, Jan Martin).

F-Trooper Nigel Asken ready to attack the weeds in the dams

More progress made on the garden at the 18th - this time you can see where I had been

It was good to see some orchids out on the 18th garden.

We were so lucky today that the rain held off until morning tea time and we did get some projects done. No vehicles or carts were allowed on the course.

On hand we had nine volunteers - Sam Knox, Kevin O’Brien, Nigel Asken, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Ron Gowing, John Hollebon, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were firewood delivery (loaded last week); removal of weed from the dams, firewood preparation, hedge maintenance, clean up of paths around the clubhouse, 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden and practice nets, clean up of BBQ area, weeding at the 18th garden.

For various reasons many of our volunteers had early marks so there were five of us to appreciate morning tea of fresh sandwiches and mini cakes.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Monday 23rd May 2022
