F-Troop - Monday 28th August 2017

New Hedge plants at the 4th Tee (Mark III)
F-Troopers - Peter Martin, Don Nicholls & Ron Gowing
(Kevin O'Brien) contributing to the planting.

Another nibble at the 13th Ladies Garden

Clivias at the 14th Greenspace recovering from their transplant.
dead leaves removed and nice green centres and flowers emerging

Some members have had concerns that the cliveas are dying but it is only
transplant shock and poor soil conditions. Some TLC will bring them back
so don't be concerned as some of them are flowering already

Cliveas now coming into flower at the bush toilets

The Japanese Elm at the 6th Tee has been causing concern
to some members with regard that the tree may be dead.
The tree has got new shoots and leaves coming that do not
show any signs of wilting and many more shoots should come
as the months get walmer. The tree should grow into a more
manageable shape and the formation of the tree has been much
improved. We are expecting great results.

We had a freezing cold day for our projects today and thankfully we had fourteen volunteers to move our projects along. It felt cold enough to be snowing!

On hand we had Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Kevin O'Brien, Rob Benson, Steve Hogg, John Hollebon, Ron Gowing, Don Nicholls, Andy Henebury, Garry Trigg, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

Our projects today were loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course, tree maintenance, wood splitting, hedge maintenance, weeding, watering multiple gardens, deadheading streletzias at the 15th, tidy up around the clubhouse, BBQ area, 1st and 10th tees, planting new hedge plants at the 4th tee, planting in new hedge plants at the 10th tee, straightening up the seat in the 6th tranquility garden, cleaning the 14th bush toilets, tidying up the clivea plants at the 14th greenspace.

Hot Coffee and Tea was very welcome at morning tea time along with our goodies that are donated by Barto's Bakehouse.  Thanks Barto!

I do have one small brag - I did get out of the right 8th bunker in one where my ball was sitting on the upslope close to the right side of the bunker 😃

F-Troop Morning Tea - Don Nicholls, Trevor Harrison, Garry Trigg, Steve Hogg, Di Beechey,
Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Andy Henebury, John Hollebon, Steve Robinson,
Kevin O'Brien, Ron Gowing, (Rob Benson, Terry Coyle, Anne Burgess, Jan Martin, Peter Martin)

Another nibble at the Ladies 13th Garden

It was very pleasing to have so many volunteers turn up today when we needed them most.  The high winds of last week caused havoc on the course with a lot of loose timber down all over the place.

On hand we had Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Kevin O'Brien, Steve Hogg, Terry Coyle, John Hollebon, Rob Benson, on Gowing, Steve Robinson, Garry Trigg, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Andy Henebury, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin. Sixteen workers in all.

Needless to say our main project of the day was clean up of the course and we covered pick up of rubbish and loose timber, clean up along the fairways and bunkers, cleanup around the clubhouse and pathways, practice nets and wedding garden, 1st and 10th tees.  We also got some watering done of the gardens, cleaning of the bush toilets, watered the pots at the 6th tranquility garden and some weeding done at the 13th Ladies Garden, clean up of the front street gardens.

We made short work of our morning tea after a hard morning's work. Thank you Barto!

We had quiet a cold day for golf today with a chilly wind and some light showers to keep the temperature down.  The course was still playing well with some good scores coming in.
Our playing partners today were Wally & Rhonda Robertson and we did have some good highlights throughout the day the best of which was Wally's gobbler putt in on the 16th for 5/3 which made our day.
