Golf - Tuesday 31st July 2012

We were all grateful for the lack of rain today although there was an icy wind blowing all day to keep us on our toes.  My playing partners today were Leonie Casey and Glennis English and we had a good day on the village green trying our best to roll in the three pointers with some success.

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford - "L'Oreal Day" (which we all look forward to)

Our thanks to L'Oreal for sponsoring this very popular day.

We had 66 starters with one visitor Elizabeth Graham from Griffith.  We also welcomed  a new lady member Nan Richards previously from Asquith.  We hope to see Nan playing in our competitions shortly.

Two "EAGLES" were scored today by DI THOMLINSON (at the 15th) and HELEN POTTER (at the 6th).  CONGRATULATIONS DI AND HELEN!

F-Troop - Monday 30th July 2012

A sunny day for F-Troop at last which was a relief as the projects are piling up because we have either not been able to get out on the course due to bad weather or we have not had enough helpers.

Today was all good with twelve helpers on hand and some good concreting weather.

We had Trevor Harrison, Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, George Foster, Garry Trigg, Rob Benson, Warren Gray, Des Wilson, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

Peter, Trevor, Rob, Duncan, Warren & Des worked on the concrete footings for the cart shed.

George  and Martin did rubbish pick up and worked with Di and Anne at the wedding garden replacing the path timber supports.

Di & Anne did their usual clean up of the car park and BBQ area & then worked on the wedding garden area and planted some succulent plants at the garden at the 4th.

I worked on the garden at the 2nd tee trimming shrubs, dead heading the streletzia, trimmed the tibouchina and weeded and raked the gardens and paths.

Morning tea was very welcome on such a cold day & we enjoyed it out in the sunshine of the front gardens.
Thanks Chef John! We welcomed back Geoff Bridge who has just returned from his golf holiday in Canada.
Geoff will be back on duty next week after a couple of weeks off.

After morning tea we had a visit from Bev Reynolds and Rhonda Chapman who recently donated some bulk succulent plants for our gardens - with more to come.  Rhonda bought with her some lily bulbs for us to plant into our gardens.  I took Bev & Rhonda out to the new succulent gardens so they could see the results and where their donated plants now live.  Neither Bev or Rhonda are Members of the club which makes the donations even more special.

Today we received a nice donation of succulent plants from Annette Dunk which Anne has planted out on the 4th garden.  Thanks Annette!

Our timber sales are going well and we are able to fund the purchase of new path support boards and new gravel for our wedding garden as well as the purchase of more grasses for the 15th fairway.

We have entered our gardens in the Gosford City Garden Competition for this year and hope to duplicate our success of last year when we won the "Best Commercial Garden".

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

We were very fortunate to have a fine day for the first round of the Mixed Team Series.

Our Mixed Team for this year is Col Matterson & Lauren Matterson and our opposition team is Arthur Collien, Kay Frewin and Warren Gray & Mary Bromwich.  Our playing partners today were Arthur & Kay and we had a good day on the village  green - pity about some of the golf but we did have some highlights.
I accidentally left my driver at home so I trialled one of the new "Ping" models from the Pro Shop which I was very impressed with. Maybe I should have trialled a putter as well.

Friday 27th July 2012 Raffles, Badge Draw, Wine Tasting and Trivia Night

Click on the image to enlarge to viewing size

We had a very successful Friday Night Raffles, Badge Draw, Wine Tasting and Trivia Night which was well supported by Members and Guests.

It was very pleasing to see that we had so many tables competing in the trivia contest which was well run and a lot of fun.

McWilliams Wines provided the wine tasting which was also a popular event with the members and guests.

In conjunction with the Trivia Night we had the normal raffles & badge draw in addition to the monthly Natrad $100 draw donated by Graeme Wright.

RESULTS:

NATRAD MONTHLY DRAW WINNER:  Neil Hancock $100

BADGE DRAW WINNER:   John Richards - $500
(Congratulations to John who had to be present in the clubhouse to win this draw)

TRIVIA NIGHT WINNERS:  "It's all about us"
with a playoff for 2nd place won by "TTR" (Transformation to Retirement)

There were some great trophies to be won as well at the meat & wine raffles so everyone had a very enjoyable night.

It would be great to see as many people there every Friday Night when we have our regular meat raffles and badge draw where everyone gets to share in the prizes and a chance to win the badge draw which builds up to a substantial amount because the Members have to be present at the club at the time of the draw.

Well done to all the Members who supported the club last night - you are to be congratulated!

Our deepest sympathy to Lynn & Ron Puiatti on the sad loss of Lynn's mother on Thursday Evening.
