F-Troop Monday 30th December 2019

F-Troop Morning Tea - Ron Gowing, Kevin O’Brien, Peter Martin, Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Terry Coyle, Sam Knox, Di Beechey (Jan Martin)

We have had a lot of wind this past week which has created a lot of loose leaves around the course. Today we were kept very busy with clean up.

We started early today to try and beat the heat and it was good that we did as it warmed up quickly and there were a lot of Social Golfers on the course.

On hand today we had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Sam Knox, Kevin O’Briien, Terry Coyle, Peter Martin, Ron Gowing, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were clean up of the car park, tree maintenance on the 7th, wood preparation, clean up around the clubhouse, clean up of the 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden and practice nets, watering of the gardens at the 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden and practice green. Watering of gardens out on the course, maintenance to the hedge on the 4th, cleaning of the bush toilets, mulch to the greenspace garden, maintenance and watering of the greenspace garden, tidy up of the tranquility garden at the 6th tee, watering pots and gardens at the 6th tee, ladies 3rd tee, bike garden, ladies 9th tee garden, pot at 9th green, pots in the Wedding Garden.

The watering of the gardens at the front of the Club were made very difficult because some low lives decided to remove the hose at the clubhouse - kindly leaving us a house joiner. - The rest of the hose was gone.

Morning Tea was welcomed by all.

The Longest Day - Monday 16th December 2019

Longest Day Charity Day

As many of you are aware, 15 of my mates and I took on the Cancer Council's Longest Day Challenge which was to complete 72 holes in one day. After 12 long hours straight, we managed to complete the challenge and knock over 72 holes in one day!! We probably underestimated how hard 72 holes would be, and trust me when I say this we are feeling it today!
We can't thank you all enough for your generous donations towards Cancer Research. Our original goal was to reach $3000 which I personally thought we would struggle to reach.  After 161 donations we managed to smash our goal and reach a staggering total of $11,190. This wouldn't have been possible without everyone's amazing support so we all thank you dearly.
As promised, I managed to obtain some golf vouchers as prizes for everyone who donated. The prizes have been drawn and our winners are listed below:
  • Pennant Hills Golf Club x4 rounds of 18 holes & x2 18 hole golf carts - CHRIS MYERS
  • Cypress Lakes Golf Club x4 rounds of 18 holes & x2 18 hole golf carts - SUSAN
  • Kooindah Waters Golf Club x4 rounds of 18 holes & x2 18 hole golf carts - Terry Jasmin
Huge thanks go out to Andrew Potter from Pennant Hills, Scott Cubis from Cypress Lakes & Dave Stretton from Kooindah Waters for their generous donations.
All in all, we are all so proud of what we have managed to achieve and thank you everyone for making this charitable event such a success.
