F-Troop - Monday 30th December 2013

Today we had some great teamwork from our F-Troopers working on various projects around the course.

We had thirteen volunteers which helped to spread the load.  We had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Don Nicholls, Rob Benson, Mark (Zorro) Sorridimi, Nigel Asken, Peter Martin, Mark Stimpson, Di Beechey, Carolyn Buttsworth, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

Duncan and Geoff repaired the broken tail lights on the F-Troop Ute. I am pleased to be able to say that we had enough funds in our donation box to complete the payment for the ute repairs due to anonymous donations from Members and visitors to our donation box in the Pro Shop.  Thank you very much for your support.  The donations are put to good use in our F-Troop projects - be they small all large the donations collectively add up to something worthwhile for our club.

Trevor & Don completed the security bay project at the F-Troop sheds.

Nigel, Peter and Mark worked on removing rubbish from the dam on the 18th fairway and managed to get a lot of weed out of the dam with some difficulty.  The weed is very heavy and took its toll on the equipment
they used to drag the weed out.

Rob & Zorro did a sterling job picking up bark and rubbish from around the course and removing the garden rubbish from our bins.

Di and Carolyn worked tirelessly all morning cleaning up the car parks, underneath the clubhouse, around the wedding gardens and the 1st and 10th tees.

Anne did some watering and worked on her gardens in Camellia Way and helped out at the 1st and 10th tees.

I focused on the putting green area after cleaning up at the bush toilets, watering plants on the course and the wedding garden, cleaned out the gutters at the putting green and partly trimmed the hedges around the putting green, cleaned up at the 1st and 10th tees.

We did appreciate morning tea after a very hot morning's work.  Chef John provided some cake slices that went down well - Thanks Chef John!

The weed eradication in the dams will be an ongoing project as will be the bark pick up if the high winds persevere.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Sunday 29th December 2013

We had a beautiful day for golf at Gosford Golf Course today.  The winds gusts came and went but overall it was not too bad and the good scores that came in indicate that the course was in great order.

WENDY STAPLETON particularly liked the course today - playing with her brand new set of Ping Clubs scored a HOLE IN ONE at the 5th Hole which makes it a total of four Hole in Ones for Wendy!  Wendy told me that it is easy when you know how...... I am still in learner mode!  CONGRATULATIONS WENDY!

Our playing partners were Graham and Anne Smith (my brother and sister-in-law) who both played really well considering that they are very busy people and have not played a lot of golf lately (Anne not for one and a half years).  We had a lovely day with some good highlights the best of which was Anne's 3 pointer at the 1st hole.

Golf - Saturday 28th December 2013

Now that we have the "Silly Season" out of the way we can get back to our golf and enjoy the Gosford Golf Course.  I have had compliments this week from visitors and members alike on the state of the course especially the greens - even though they are a bit slow due to the holiday break they all had something good to say about the course.  Our social golfers numbers have been good with 170 odd playing yesterday.

The Golf Event of the day was a Men's Modified Comp - Single Stableford.

F-Troop - Monday 23rd December 2013

We had a very steamy day to work at F-Troop.  The course was a mess with falling bark from the trees
removing their bark overcoats in the hot weather.

We had Eleven volunteers - Trevor Harrison Don Nicholls, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Zorro Sorridimi, Rob Benson, Garry Trigg, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Carolyn Buttsworth and Jan Martin (with two little ankle biters)

Trevor, Don, Duncan, Geoff & Zorro worked on the security trailer port down at the F-Troop Sheds and then helped to dismantle the marquee.

Peter, Rob & Garry were on pick up duty - and there was plenty of that - and then they helped to dismantle the marquee.

Di and Carolyn put in some very hard yards especially in such hot weather - watering the gardens and removing the grasses from the Front Street Garden with help of Zorro. The Front Street garden is now getting to a controllable state but is still work in progress. Many thanks to Di for homing in on this job and making it happen.

Anne worked on watering the gardens and trees on the course.

With my two little helpers on board I managed to clean up the bush toilets and areas around, watered the wedding garden area and pots, cleaned up bark at the back of the 1st tee.  I was amazed to find that Vandals had again struck at the Bush Toilets - smashing the plumbing pipes on the back wall of the Men's Toilet and attempted to break the main water pipe.  Fortunately it was all fixable and everything is back in working order. (The last time this happened the whole cistern of the toilet was stolen)

After a very hot morning's work we really appreciated morning tea of giant iced buns and multiple cups of tea and coffee. Thanks Chef John!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE AND HAPPY GOLFING!

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

F-Troop - Monday 16th December 2013

We had a productive day for our F-Troop projects today with eleven helpers on hand.

We had Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Rob Benson, Peter Martin, Nigel Asken, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess & Jan Martin.

Duncan, Trevor, Don & Geoff worked on the security roof at the F-Troop Shed.

Warren & Rob were on loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course. It is bark falling time which also adds to the mess around the course.

Peter Martin was on pick up and back up on all the projects and helped Don Nicholls with the repair of the the taps in the Associates Room..

Di Beechey cleaned up the front car park and worked on removing the obsolete grasses in the Front Street Garden with the help of Anne Burgess and Trevor Harrison.  This is a tough job as the plants have been firmly settled there for many years. Di and Anne were also on duty on Sunday cleaning up the car parks and watering the gardens.

Nigel Asken took on the daunting task of weed clean up in the 10th dam.  The weeds have regrown at a rapid rate and will look much better after a good clean out.

My efforts today were spread over cleaning up at the bush toilets and watering the plants there, cleaning up at the Ladies 3rd tee and area around there, planting in some new colour at the wedding garden, watering the wedding garden plants and the potted plants in the area, trimmed the yellow hedge at the 10th tee and cleaned up the area around the 1st and 10th tees.

We all appreciated morning tea of giant muffins - Thanks Chef John!

All of the above projects are ongoing - the security area at the F-Troop sheds is proceeding well, the Front Street Garden is improving every week,

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
