Golf - Sunday 8th December 2013 - Annual Mixed Gala Day









We had a lovely sunny day for golf, our playing partners were Keith & Helen Potter and we had a very enjoyable day on the village green.  We had some good highlights the best of which was Helen's birdie at the 6th hole.  It was a pleasure to watch Keith & Helen play today with both of them coming in with very respectable scores of 39 and 37 respectively.

The Golf Event of the day was the Annual Mixed Gala Day (Must have two men and two ladies in each team) Team Stableford 1 X 2 X 3 + Men and Ladies Singles.

We had 79 starters with 5 visitors from Howlong, Hunter Valley & Massey Park.

RUNNERS UP:  Fraser Bates, Lyn Bates, Nigel Asken & Sheena Asken - 89 points on a countback

MEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER:  Spencer Walklate - 42 points on a countback

RUNNER UP:  Graham Muller - 42 points

WOMEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER:  Joyce Bosley - 39 points

RUNNER UP:  Helen Potter - 37 points on a countback

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY  as reported to me:  Spencer Walklate played a steady game; Tania Burt started with a 4 pointer on the 1st hole which was followed by 2 in the water and 2 out of bounds; Bert Jordon had 3/5 birdie on the 1st; Jann Henebury was on the 5th green for one;Graham Muller had 42 points and enjoyed good company; Helen Broadbent was on the 13th green for two for the first time and was going well until her brand new batteries conked out; Zorro (Mark) Sorridimi turned up at the 16th tee late, hit his drive into the trees and went on to birdie the hole; Fraser Bates had three 4 pointers and turned with 25 points; Sheena Asken had a Birdie at the 8th; Lynn Puiatti & Rosalie Dyer beat the boys for the Keno Ticket; George Foster & Wal Robertson beat the girls for the Keno Ticket; Wal Robertson had a birdie at the 8th; Garry Trigg had 4 pointers at the 2nd and the 15th; Brent Frewin had a Birdie at the 18th; Arthur Haviland had a gobbler birdie on the 2nd; Doug Incoll had a Birdie 3/5 at the 1st; Robin Incoll found Peter Martin's Sunglasses in the rough on the 3rd fairway; Dick Bosley had three 4 pointers; Joyce Bosley had five 3 pointers in a row; Helen Potter had a birdie on the 6th; Keith Potter had four 3 pointers; Peter Martin hit his drive off the 11th over the heads of golfers teeing off on the 16th tee and found his ball in the 15th dam; my highlight was sinking long putts at the 4th and the 12th.

Kay Frewin's Grandson Darcy hit 139 runs in the Cricket under 19's.  Congratulations Kay & Darcy!
