EASTER DINNER DANCE:

Easter is a difficult time to commit to a night out at the Golf Club because it is traditionally a family/holiday time - however those that did come had a wonderful night.

We were entertained by an exceptional band "Brassick" that have played at the club on several occasions previously and were very popular.  We all had our dancing shoes on and were up on the dance floor having a great time.  In addition to the golfing patrons we also had some visitors from Berowra who were in Gosford for the night and also some local people who had heard that the band was playing at our club.

It was mentioned to me tonight that the night was good value for the meal and entertainment and they would have been happy to have paid $55 for just the evening - so those of us that also got 18 holes of golf as well got a bargain!

F-Troop - Monday 25th March 2013

After so much hot weather heat stress is showing in the gardens so we had to pull out the hoses for the first time since the big wet.

We had nine volunteers today and managed to get two big projects done as well as some good maintenance work.  We had Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin (Anne and I both carrying late notes).

Over the weekend a large branch had fallen at the 16th so Duncan, Geoff & Warren were dispatched to take care of that chore.

Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls and Peter Martin worked on the Air Conditioner Roofing project and were assisted by Duncan & Warren after they had finished with the fallen branch.  This was a big project and was finished in good time by our experts.  The Roofing material was donated by Sam Knox - Thanks Sam!

Peter Martin & Warren Gray also found time to do a loose timber and rubbish pick up.  We were a little restricted around the course today because of the Super Seniors Pennants matches being played at Gosford.

Di Beechey had a very busy morning working solo for the most of it as I put in a very late appearance.  Di trimmed the shrubs in the front gardens which was quite a big project.  Anne was able to kick in for a short while and I mostly did garden watering in the front gardens, wedding gardens and 1st and 10th tees, fertilized the heat stressed Tibouchina Jazzies at the 10th tee, dead headed the roses. We planted three new gardenia plants in the front garden to complete that project.

Morning Tea was some huge iced buns - Thanks Chef John! and these were topped up with some cupcakes made by Di Beechey.  We were spoilt today.

We could do with some nice slow showers - overnight and  outside of golfing hours of course!

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Sunday 24th March 2013

Today the temperature reached 31 degrees and we certainly felt the heat on the course.  Thankfully there was a bit of breeze around to keep the temperature bearable but we needed a good water supply to keep us going.

Our playing partners today were Wal & Fay Bailey and we had a great day on the village green - pity about the golf scores.  Our highlight was the girls beat the boys for the Keno Ticket and Wal was our champion of the day.

The Golf Event was a Mixed 2 Ball Team + Single Stableford + NSW Mixed 4BBB Qualifying Round.

We had 82 starters with 1 visitor form Mona Vale.

Pandora Day 2013 Report

The Pandora Committee and Central Coast Family Support Services Charity Golf Day held on Friday last, March 15th, despite dull drizzly conditions, proved to be our most successful yet!

111 players teed off showing their generosity on our novelty holes flinging gold coin donations with gay abandon, giving Tom a hard time on the 14th as they paid him to improve their scores.

The on course Tea, Coffee and Pandora Cakes as popular as ever, the lady in the boat, this year visited by no less than three well aimed shots!   At the end of the day purse strings were loosened generously again for raffle tickets, auction items and balloons filled with prizes.

The prestigious Pandora Trophy was taken by an interloper from Killara Golf Club! However, so impressed were he and his good lady, with the course and fun filled day, that they have vowed to return next year and bring more golfers with them!

The funds raised from our day this year, are all being directed to The Grandparents who are sole carers for their Grandchildren scheme administered by Central Coast Family Support Services.  At this time there is little or no government funding for these families. We are therefore, extremely happy to report the grand total of $10,000 will be heading in their direction!

We heard from Lloyd, one of our Grandfathers, the journey that he and his wife have found themselves taking after raising their own five daughters and now a Grandson. Something they do unconditionally with love and joy.

Success of a day like ours is due to hard work and assistance from not only the committee involved but also the terrific staff at Gosford Golf Club Club Manager Alvin Kan, Mr Ron Puiatti, Committee Members, Pro Shop - Scott, Tom and Michelle, Bar and Dining staff, Sally in the office, Reception, Groundsmen, the fantastic golfers, wonderful donations of goods for raffles and prizes, generous sponsors, the services of our auctioneer, Mr Doug Jones from George Brand Real Estate, Terrrigal, and last but by no means least the BBQ wizards, Brinks & Peter Martin and Arthur Verlander who help to start the day. Not all the names are known to us but you have our sincere and grateful thanks.

We look forward to returning bigger and better in 2014!  Thank you!
