Wedding Garden maintenance completed

We had a very chilly start to our day this morning with a chill factor to the wind.

We had thirteen volunteers today which was a big help towards getting our projects completed.

On hand were Duncan Dyer, Kevin O'Brien, Rob Benson, Steve Hogg, Terry Coyle, Geoff Bridge,
John Hollebon, Garry Trigg, Ron Gowing, Peter Martin, Owen James, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Our projects completed today were moving the hedge plants on the 4th tee to a higher position on the tee to prevent distress to the plants; maintenance to the Wedding Garden area and Practice Net Garden; raking up of the fallen autumn leaves on the course that makes it so difficult to find lost golf balls; maintenance to trees around the course; tidy up of the wood heap; pick up of loose timber and rubbish on the course; trimming maintenance to the hedges; weeding and mulching of the green space at the 14th Bush toilets; cleaning of the bush toilets; planting in of a bulk amount of clivea plants donated by Owen James (who also donated his time to help me to plant them in the garden); new soil added to the hedge garden at the 4th and also to the Orange Trumpet Vine plants at the 14th Tee.

Morning Tea was appreciated after a hard morning's work.  Our thanks to Barto for his continued support of F-Troop.

For those of you who are a bit confused about the prize allocations I advise that in this event players cannot receive more than one prize.  The prizes are allocated by the value of the prize and thereafter descend down the line of prize winners until all prizes are allocated.

The Late Fred Walker - Funeral arrangements

It is with great sadness that the funeral arrangements for the Late Fred Walker is announced.  Fred will be remembered for his contributions to Dad's Army and was a keen golfer until health issues prevented him from playing.

MEANWHILE AT HAWKS NEST.....

Today's winners at Hawks Nest plus overall winners
for the week
Star of the week - Terry Coyle who got a hole-in-one on the 16th

Gosford players achieved very well during the Myall Classic this week at Hawks Nest with Gosford winning a bulk amount of trophies.

The overall winner in the men's Singles was Don Bush who had three very credible rounds, followed closely by Fraser Bates who also had three outstanding rounds.

We had some really good highlights from our members - the best of which was Terry Coyle's Hole-in-One at the 16th for 1/5; Anne Forrester scored 3/5, Jan Walker 2/4 and won nearest the pin; Fraser Bates was pleased that Lyn contributed to the team score;  my highlight was not going in any bunkers over the three days ( after taking advice from Mark Stimpson about how to deal with bunkers - he told me not to go into them) and finishing every day with the same ball I started with..... and I won two balls !

The week was very well organised by the Hawks Nest Golf Club and a great time was had by all.

F-Troop - Monday 1st May 2017

F-Troopers good work at the 14th Bush Toilets

F-Troopers were very busy today with reduced numbers as some of us are away with a better offer.

The boys did a great job of laying pavers around the garden paths at the 14th bush toilets as well as their normal rubbish and loose timber pick up and assorted jobs.

Well done F-Troopers!

Meanwhile at Hawks Nest ...........

We cleaned up again with a lot of trophy winners on day one !
