F-Troop - Monday 30th June 2014

For a freezing cold winter's morning we had a good turn up of twelve volunteers for our projects today.

We had Trevor Harrison, Geoff Bridge, Don Nicholls, Garry Trigg, Rob Benson,Warren Gray, Peter Martin, Duncan Dyer, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Carolyn Buttsworth and Jan Martin.

The boys had several projects on hand this morning which included cutting up a fallen tree on the 8th fairway, trimming the small tee on the left of the 10th tee, removing dangerous boards from the 11th Tee that become slippery in wet weather, transporting mulch to the 18th garden, putting a birdcage in place in the tree at the 6th tee; trimming dead branches from the tree at the 6th tee, erecting a vertical garden at the 1st tee and doing general rubbish pickup from around the course (of which there was plenty after the wild winds of the weekend)

The girls were kept busy with the main project being the mulching and watering of the new garden at the 18th tee.  Other jobs done were cleaning up at the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 13th and the bush toilet area as well as watering as many gardens and pots as possible, placing the watering can at the 13th garden, the birdcage at the 6th tee, and planting in the new vertical garden at the 1st tee.

Morning Tea was really appreciated after a hard few hours and we made short work of the mini cakes and slices - thank you Chef Brad!

Our thanks to Bob Thomas for his contributions of the Windmill (18th Tee), Birdcage (6th Tee), Watering Can (13th Tee) and Wheelbarrow (yet to arrive at the 13th Tee) to give us some interest to see in the gardens.

Our Thanks and appreciation to the RSL Club Social Golfers who have matched the Central Coast Leagues Club Social Golfers with a donation of $200 which gives us a total of $400 for our F-Troop projects.  Our thanks also to Carolyn Buttsworth for her donation of $50 towards some new plants for the 18th tee garden.
With support like this we can make good things happen. Thank you to all of our supporters!

We produced a vertical garden for the 1st tee from an old obsolete pallet and filled it with plants donated by Brian & Lesley Gregory - zero cost to the club.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

You may have noticed the top of the windmill at the 18th Men's tee is missing.  Nothing untoward has happened.  Bert Brink is using his engineering skills to maintain the windmill so that it will give our players an accurate wind indicator when calculating your drive from the 18th.    A little bonus for our Members!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Elly Van Den Berg had 3 pointers at the 8th & 12th and played a nice steady front nine; June Bowen turned with 22 points,  had 7X3 pointers and one 4 pointer at the 17th for her nice 39 points; Merran Adams had two pars; Lyn Cruickshanks played steady golf wth 6 x 3 pointers and turned with 20 points;Lynn Puiatti had a gobbler 4/3 at the 11th; Robin Incoll had a gobbler at the 13th; Judy Verlander had back to back pars at the 4th and 5th; Alison Guthrie, Doreen Vines and Pam Witt enjoyed each others company; Rosalie Dyer had a nice 39 points including a birdie at the 11th and pars at the 9th and 10th; Mary Ellis enjoyed good company and had a nice day; Bev Adams turned in 22 finishing with 37 points; Annie Brink had a steady game for her 34 points; Lorraine Bignall had a huge gobbler putt at the 6th and had 3/3 on two of the par 3's; Sheila Williams played the fairways well and was a demon on the putting green; Georgina Lamb had 5/4 on the 6th; Rosemary Cohen had a good 4 pointer; Margaret Nichols and Rhonda Austen managed to play 18 holes marking their own cards instead of exchanging and had to do a hasty record change at the 18th (obviously the wind made them do it!);  my highlight was bringing home June Bowen who had played well for her winning points with just a little hiccup after the turn which cost her a few points.

My thanks to Lorraine Bignall and Glennis English for the attached photos.

F-Troop - Monday 23rd June 2014

Winter has arrived with a vengeance but that did not stop our die hard volunteers fronting up for a good mornings work with F-Troop.

We had 9 starters and managed to make great inroads into our projects for the day.  The course was busy with vets players so we were restricted on our use of the course.

The boys took on the task of replacing all of the old shelving in the cart shed that supports all of the battery chargers for the carts.  They did a great job and the shed looks much better for the work done.

Trevor Harrison & Don Nicholls also secured the "Windmill" (donated by Bob Thomas) into the garden at the Men's 18th Tee.  Matt from the Green staff welded on some extra height to the windmill to give a better effect in the garden.  Thanks Matt!

Peter Martin & Warren Gray also did some rubbish pick up around the course.

Di Beechey & Anne Burgess planted some new plants into the garden at the Ladies 18th Tee and gave the
garden some new design which has been a big improvement.  The Gardens at the side of the 14th green are to be re-designed to allow a new walking path off of the tee.  Di & Anne helped to remove the old plants so the the re-designing can begin.

I cleaned up at the 14th bush toilet area, helped to remove rubbish at the 18th, helped to remove plants at the 14th and removed the rubbish, raked up rubbish and weeded at the back of the Wedding Garden.

Morning Tea of croissants and jam was very welcomed by the Troopers.  Thank you Chef Brad!

We received a wonderful donation of $200 from the Central Coast Leagues Club Social Golfers which we will put towards our projects.  Thank you very much for your generous support to our F-Troop.

We have also received further trays of plants from Brtian & Lesley Gregory which will be put to good use in our gardens.  Thanks you Brian & Lesley!

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Sunday 22nd June 2014

We had a lovely day for golf today - all blue sky and sunshine just as we like it.

CONGRATULATIONS TO "JAN MARTIN" FOR A HOLE-IN-ONE AT THE 14TH!
(Never thought I would see those words printed here)

Our playing partners were Bert & Annie Brink and we had a fun day on the village green.  We did not think that our golf scores would be worth zap but at the end of the day we did not do too badly at all.  We had some good highlights the best by far being a Hole-in- One at the 14th by me (which was my only plus score of the day).

The Golf Event of the day was a 2 Ball Team + Single Par Mixed, Men and Ladies.

We had 67 starters with 3 visitors from Kooindah Waters, Massey Park, Pymble.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  I was too busy celebrating tonight to gather any highlights - which would of course have faded into insignificance compared a Hole in One.  Next week,
unless some miracle produces another hole in one, I will be back on deck to gather up all of the magnificent shots made during the day.
