Golf - Sunday 1st June 2014





We were blessed with the weather today with the majority of us getting in before the wet weather arrived in the late afternoon.

The Golf Event of the day was a Medley Team Event - 1 score to count + Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.  In addition we had a Junior pennants match with Gosford playing Wyong.

We had 68 starters.

MEDLEY TEAM RESULTS:

WINNERS: Michael Norman, Pauline Norman, Warren Gray and Mary Bromwich - 54 points

RUNNERS UP:  Ray Buttsworth, Carolyn Buttsworth, Steven Cross & Annette Cross - 52 points

MEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER:  Bert Brink - 43 points

RUNNER UP:  Leigh Spinks - 42 points on a countback

WOMEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER:  Lyn Bates - 37 points on a countback

RUNNER UP:  Sandy Laybutt - 37 points

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Col Matterson had an Eagle on the 15th hole; Garry Baillie had 6 x 3 pointers and one 4 pointer; Leigh Spinks had a birdie; Rosalie Dyer had a gobbler on the 16th for 4/3; Peter Martin had a gobbler on the 9th; Michael Norman had 4/4 on the 11th; Pauline Norman had 3/4 on the 8th; Warren Gray had 4/4 on the 6th; Mary Bromwich was a good scorer and team supporter; Steven Cross had a birdie on the 1st; Neil Orr is an improved player; Duncan Dyer & Col Matterson were beaten by the girls for the Keno Ticket; Bert Brink, Annie Brink, Graham Brown & Rae Brown were all on the green at the 14th and all scored 3 pointers; Bert Brink scored six 3 pointers in a row; Kay Baillie and Jan martin were both on the 8th green for one.

For those of you who have joined the Alex Johnston Fan Club - Julie Hazzard has told me that Alex (John & Julie Hazzard's grandson) will be playing for South Sydney on Monday night against St George - so be sure to be watching for this talented young footballer. I wonder which side John will be REALLY supporting as St George is his team?

I have request from Robin Incoll for the attention of the person who asked her for the recipe for "Velvet Cake"  Robin has found the recipe and anyone interested can get a copy of the recipe from her.
