F-Troop - Monday 27th March 2017

We had a wet course waiting for us today and the green staff had started the greens maintenance so we restricted our work out on the course.

On hand we had Kevin O'Brien, Geoff Bridge, Rob Benson, Steve Hogg, John Hollebon, Nigel Asken, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

I have no photos today as I had to take an early mark for an appointment.

We did get some good projects done including loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course, maintenance to the hedges, removal of nuisance weeds from the fairways, front street area mowed, gardens at the front of the club maintained and shrubs trimmed, bush toilets cleaned and gardens tidied, 6th tranquility garden tidied and some more work done removing weeds from the native gardens at the 6th.

I had to dip out on morning tea but I understand that is was appreciated at the end of a hard mornings work.  Thank you Barto!

I hope you have all noticed the new paved areas under the Table Settings in the front of the club house.  That was completed last week by our F-Troopers.

Ray had cunningly organised a double surprise for Carolyn's 70th Birthday.  Firstly he had to convince her to drive to Tallwoods at 7.00am in the morning to play golf in the rain.  He somehow managed to get her there where a group of Gosford Golfers were waiting to surprise her.

The golf course was very wet and soggy and after a rain delay and coffee break we managed to complete nine holes of golf in the rain, wet long grass and mud to fill in time to get back to the family home at Tuncurry for lunch where Carolyn's family and friends were waiting to give her a second surprise.

PANDORA CHARITY DAY - FRIDAY 10TH MARCH 2017 - SHOTGUN START

I understand that the Pandora Day had approximately 70 starters and was a very successful day.

A positive result I heard was that there was $146 raised at the 3rd tee where players had to try and drive off the tee and land in the tinny boat that was out in the 3rd dam.  I believe there were two successful winners.

We had good weather and a good number of players stayed back for Presentation in the Magnolia Room and some stayed on for dinner, raffles and the Members Draw.

I will publish the results when they come to hand.

It was a bit of a mixed bag of weather today with the majority of the match played in very pleasant conditions. It was only the last half a dozen holes that it becomes uncomfortable with heavier rain persisting.

Our playing partners were Neville and Jan Walker who were great company.  We started off the day really well scoring some good pars, our highlights being some great shots from the boys to get us to the greens, Jan Walker saving us with some good second shots and chips, and we managed to slip in some good one putts - at the end of the day not having any double bogeys.
