Gosford Golf Club Juniors news

Dear Gosford Juniors and Cadets,

“What’s On & Christmas Update”

1.       Friday 1st December – Junior Clinic is on this Friday at 4pm - $5 per child. Clinic and 3 or 4 holes. Children under 12 require a guardian to assist and or caddie for the time playing holes.


2.       Saturday 2nd December - Junior Short Course Challenge – 6 HolesFrom 3pm for a 3.30pm Tee off and open to all Juniors that can manage the 6 Holes. Once again - Children under 12 require a guardian to assist and or caddie for the time playing holes.

3.       Monday 4th December – Central Coast School Boy/Girl Championships at Shelly Beach – open to all Junior Members who have a member -  golflink number with the Gosford Golf Club. 18 Holes Stroke. NOTE – there are 8 Gosford representatives thus far. 7.30am arrival for an 8am Shotgun Start. Entries still open – see Gosford Pro Shop. Forms to be sent straight to Shelly Beach Pro Shop. – Whilst, sounding like there is a Teacher strike planned for the high schools that same day.

4.       Friday 8th December - – Junior Clinic is on Friday at 4pm - $5 per child. Clinic and 3 or 4 holes. Children under 12 require a guardian to assist and or caddie for the time playing holes.

5.       Friday 15th December – Junior Christmas Party “Aqua” Golf Afternoon -  $5 per child. Playing 4 holes with an Aqua hole. Children under 12 require a guardian to assist and or caddie for the time playing holes. Special Christmas BBQ and Aqua Hole – Yes – you get to hit floating golf balls to a hole out in the middle of the Dam. 

6.       MY GOLF – 3 Day Junior Golf Clinic – Christmas School Holiday – Tuesday 19thWednesday 20th & Thursday 21st December 2017. $130 for the 3 days which includes, instruction, on course play, equipment, morning tea, lunch and refreshments, certificate and prizes. Total of 3 sessions and open to approved Juniors over the age of 10 years. 7.       Christmas Holidays  - no more Junior Clinics. Merry Christmas to all our Gosford Golf families.

8.       Complimentary rounds of Golf at the Gosford Golf Club for all Juniors each afternoon in the School Holidays. Complimentary bucket of balls at the Kincumber Golf Driving Range

9.       January 2018 – School Term 1 – Friday afternoon clinics and Junior Short Course return

10.   PRO SHOP XMAS SALE – “golfers are so easy to buy for come Christmas”, check out all the Junior Clubs, Bags, Buggy’s, balls and accessories in the Pro Shop. We have enjoyed coaching and helping with the  social development pathway for your children and really appreciate the fantastic support of all the parents purchasing various items from the Pro Shop in time for Christmas.

We had a fantastic day for golf to play the Ladies Closing day.

My playing partners were Vicki Foster, Lynn Puiatti & Lauren Matterson. We did have some good highlights including a couple of 4 pointers and we did manage to win a ball.

We had 73 starters.

We had another busy day at F-Troop today with many projects on our list.

On hand were Trevor Harrison, Duncan Dyer, Kevin O'Brien, Terry Coyle, Rob Benson, Peter Martin, Ron Gowing, John Hollebon, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today was rubbish and loose timber pick up around the course, tree maintenance at the 17th, clean up of the pathways on the 1st, 10th and practice nets, cleanup around the clubhouse, car park and BBQ garden, weeding of gardens and watering where possible, maintenance of hedges, planting in of agapanthus (donated by Helen Potter) in various gardens, replacing hedge plants at the 4th tee, treatment of hedge plants including weeding and watering, watering of the 13th ladies garden, cleaning the bush toilets, watering the gardens at the 14th green space, the pots at the 6th tranquility garden and tidying up the garden there, treating the tibouchina plants at the 1st tee with seasol and fertilizer.

Morning Tea was more than welcome and was enjoyed by all.  Thank you Barto!

The Golf Event of the day was a Medley American Foursomes - 65TH NAGGERS CUP.

We had 100 starters with 5 visitors from Northbridge, PGA International, Morisset, Nelson Bay, Everglades.

This is our very popular Annual Event for married couples and de-facto couples which was very well supported this year. It was so good to see so many people, new and old, at the Gosford Course today to play in the 12.30pm Shotgun Start.

We were down on numbers today so we had a busy morning working through our projects.

On hand we had 10 volunteers - Duncan Dyer, Kevin O’Brien, Rob Benson, Terry Coyle, Andy Henebury, Peter Martin, Steve Hogg, Garry Trigg, John Hollebon, Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today was raking up tees and fairways, rubbish and loose timber pick up around the course, trimming of hedges, weeding of gardens, clean up of the 6th tranquility garden and fertilizing the potted plants, a start made on cleaning up weeds on the 6th native garden, cleaning of the Bush Toilets, preparation for painting the Bush Toilets, watering the green space garden, the bike garden, ladies 9th tee garden, the Xanadu garden, 1st & 10th tee gardens, pots in the wedding gazebo, weeding and watering the 4th tee hedge.

Morning tea was very welcome after a hard morning’s work. Thank you Barto for our morning tea goodies.

Gosford club did well today with Ray Buttsworth scoring 44 points and Garry Baillie scoring 42 points, Anne Forrester & Annette Cross did well with the A grade ladies.  Brent Frewin was the overall scratch for the week and Ray Buttsworth won overall nett for C Grade.

We had a lovely day of golf at Hawks Nest today -especially with no rain.
Gosford did not have any BIG winners but among our leaders were Bruce Binns, Kay Frewin. Kevin O'Brien, along with some places in the 2 Ball + ball winners.

I did have a report from Andy Henebury that the F-Troop painting project was well underway at Gosford and the course has had some good rainfall.
