The weather at Albany WA was cloudy but fortunately no rain which was good for us as we spent the day playing tourists. We had a look at the Wind Farm, Whale World, The lookout where there was a ANZAC memorial, the lookout over King George III where the Australian & New Zealand troop ships assembled prior to leaving for Gallipoli. In the afternoon we called into the Albany Golf Course to check it out. Mark & Peter were able to book into the Men's Comp. tomorrow so they are looking forward to that. Anne & I will have some retail therapy while we are waiting for them.

F-Troop - Monday 28th March 2011

We had 8 F-Troopers on duty today getting some good work done. We had Geoff Bridge, Des Wilson, Duncan Dyer, Warren Gray, Fred Middleton, Georgina Lamb, Anne Burgess and Martin Gallagher.

Georgina Lamb did a great job of cleaning up the side and front car park. Anne Burgess worked on the camellias i "Camellia Way"and picked up rubbish along the 18th fairway.

The boys took care of some smaller low branches along the 4th and dead wood on the 6th fairway.

The course was being rated today and the greenstaff have commenced maintenance on the greens so the place was very busy.

We need some extra volunteer workers on the 18th & 19th April for 4 hours either in the morning or the afternoon to assist with the stump removal program that F-Troop working on.

Please contact Martin Gallagher or myself if you have time to assist.

We are currently at Albany WA. We travelled from Mandurah on an alternative route via Boddington and Wagin which took us through farmland & bushland that had blackboy plants growing naturally by the hundreds on the roadside. The weather has clouded over which is not a problem as we are not golfing today.

Golf - Sunday 27th March 2011

This has now been edited to include Gosford Sunday results.

I have attached some photos of our golf today at The Cut Golf Course WA. It was another magic day with absolutely perfect weather. We cannot believe that we have had a whole week of great weather for our golf part of the tour.

The Cut Golf Course was great - with the most stunning ocean views. Our champions today were Col Kelly - 38 points and Lauren Matterson - 36 points.

Prior to going to golf we had a very interesting early morning - a fire alarm in the hotel at 4.00am and we were all evacuated from our rooms into the street outside the hotel, Apparently one of the guests in a 5th floor apartment left something cooking on the stove & caused the havoc. Nobody was injured thank heavens.

Tonight we had our farewell dinner for the golf part of the tour. We had dinner at Ruffino's on the Terrace - an Italian Restaurant followed by icecreams on the waterfront on the way home.

We celebrated a really great week of golf and are sorry that it has had to come to an end. We have thoroughly enjoyed Mandurah and the golf courses which will come highly recommended by us. All have the courses have been unique - each with their own appeal & we enjoyed them all. The overall champions for the week were Col Kelly & Alice Diamond who played very nicely all week.
