Golf - Tuesday 1st March 2022

Once again we have had consistent showers making it impossible for the course to drain and dry out.

I thought we had just had the big wet - but not according to the weather forecast. Apparently we are just about to get the BIG WET.

It may be inside sports for a while.

Junior Pennants Report

J

Our Junior Pennant Team had a tough day at Toukley Golf Club last Saturday. We battled rain, deep puddles, killer mosquito's and club eating lakes. Connor was first away having a terrific match against Jesse. It was neck and neck all the way ,with Connor winning the last hole to halve his match. He is still undefeated 👍. Aidan played well, and hit some nice shots in terrible conditions. Kiedis played a great  game against Kiara. He unfortunately lost grip of his driver, and watched it fly majestically into the middle of the dam on the 15th. The SS Callaway sank to the bottom overnight, never to be seen again☹️. Alisha was playing some of her best golf taking Ryan all the way to the 16th. Seb was splashing his way all over the course battling his opponent. He always fights hard. Our Wyong friends were a pleasure to play against, and a  great wet day was had by all.

F-Troop - Monday 28th February 2022.

F-Troop Morning Tea - Duncan Dyer, John Hollebon, Kevin O’Brien, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, Ron Gowing, Di Beechey (Jan Martin)

Two drowned rats.

The greenspace garden at the bush toilets - toilets cleaned, paths raked and weeded, shrubs trimmed, gardens tidied.

Another showery day to hold us back with our projects. The course is very wet and we could not take any heavy vehicles onto the course. Luckily we had loaded a Ute load of firewood last week ready for today’s delivery.

On hand we had Duncan Dyer, Kevin O’Brien, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, Ron Gowing, John Hollebon, Di Beechey and Jan Martin.

Projects worked on today were Firewood delivery, Hedge and garden maintenance, clean up at the front of the clubhouse including paths to the 1st and 10th tees, wedding garden and practice nets, gate maintenance, cleaning of the bush toilets and trimming of shrubs.

The heavy rain set in at 9 o’clock to we had an early morning tea.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Monday 28th February 2022

The course is extremely wet and no carts are allowed on the course.

The continuing showers is preventing the normal good drainage to happen and course maintenance is difficult.

Social golf only today for the keen golfers.

Men’s Pennant’s Results - Sunday 27th February 2022

Mens’s Pennants Results: Gosford played Everglades at Toukley.

Great wins today in B grade 2/1 and C grade 3 nil. A grade were off their game and lost 7/0

I cant believe we actually played. The course was extremely wet and there were puddles everywhere but they still allowed carts. Thank God for that as I had to play at late notice and managed to make it to the 17th before losing 2/1. Could have been worse without a cart. It was great to see one of Juniors Greg Brien step up onto the big stage. Greg lost his match but I’m sure he will be a big part of the team next year. Thanks Greg.

B grade remain undefeated and now look to be a serious threat to go back to back. Well done to Bill Ballard who has managed the team exceptional well and his team selection strategy today went a long way to getting the team home against a formidable foe.

C Grade won well and with a few more close results going their way would have been right in contention for the title. Heydon Ellis had a blinder today and with George steering the ship they were back in the sheds early with an 8/7 win.

Golf - Thursday 24th February 2022

 Rain, rain and more rain.

We did drive by the Golf Course today and there were a few golf tragics out there. I hope they had a good day before the heavy rain set in.

There were zero on the leaderboard for competition golf which is not surprising.

Check with the Pro Shop tomorrow regarding tomorrow’s golf.

Golf - Wednesday 23rd February 2022

Pathway around the second green washed out

5th Fairway under water

5th fairway - water right across

3rd dam - full to the brim

And this was just all we could see through the fence.

I was not surprised to see zero players on the leaderboard for today’s golf. The course would be very wet.  Hopefully it will drain quickly and repairs are able to be done.

Golf - Tuesday 22nd February 2022

Golf was a non event with 150 mls falling on the course leaving all the bunkers out of play and a very wet course.

Tomorrow no carts will be allowed on the course and all bunkers will be out of play.

More showers to come but hopefully not as heavy as today.

Men’s Pennants Results

  Pennants Results:

Our B grade pennant team marches on with another strong 3 nil against Shelly Beach. We now face Everglades at Toukley next week with the winner the favourites to win this years Pennant. Go Gosford.

C Grade fought hard again this week but could only manage another square. This is their third square for the year and with  a few more wins they would have been right in contention to win the Pennant. Well done boys

A grade went down 5.5/1.5 to a strong Shelly Beach team. Special mention to Zac Duffy who called a penalty on himself after he believed he may have caused the ball to move after clearing debris around the ball. Zac had come back to be 1 down at the time I and said to him I am sure things will go his way from now and he will win the match. Zac lost the next 3 holes to go down 4/3. Sorry Zac. Also special mention to Tony van den Kolk who just keeps on winning.

Well done to all our teams and lets finish strongly

Junior Pennants photos and report

Our Gosford Junior Pennant Team had a fun day against Toukley at Wyong Golf Course on Saturday.

We welcomed Seb and Greg back this week.

Seb’s putter was hot sinking long putts on the 9th and 10th.

Greg hit many good shots as well as many many trees.

Harlan played a great shot on the 2nd over a bunker and onto the green.

Alisha fought hard against a tough opponent.

Blayne played well smashing his tee shot on the 1st. He also escaped a deep bunker on the 8th with a great shot.

Kiedis was the star of the day taking his opponent all the way to the 16th hole.

Thanks to the Toukley team for an enjoyable day.

A beautiful photo of Gosford Golf Course from the Club Balcony

My thanks to Peter Cruden for this photo.

Kangaroo Valley Golf Course where we played today in 39 degree heat.

Hello from beautiful Mittagong where we are staying for a couple of days.

We have moved on from Batemans Bay and today we played the Kangaroo Valley Golf Course which proved to be very challenging for all of us. The course is not designed to be friendly to C Graders but if you are an A Grader this course would be very enjoyable. The country views are delightfull, it was very grassy and green with water challenges plus very tricky slopes and ravines. Our Winner of the Mens was Mark Stimpson with Alice Diamond winning the ladies.
