Golf Club AGM - 25th September 2007

Tonight was the Annual General Meeting of Gosford Golf Club Ltd which operates under the business name of Gosford Golf & Function Centre.

Annette Dunk retired from the board after many years of dedication to the Golf Club both as a Player, Director and Administrator for both the general club and the ladies committee.

Graeme Kingsmill retired by rotation.

The successful new directors of the board as voted by the members were Graeme Kingsmill and Greg Harrison (photo attached). Congratulations Graeme & Greg!

At the commencement of the meeting Annette Dunk was presented with flowers in recognition of her years of service. (photo attached).

During the meeting Peter Davidson was bestowed with Life Membership in recognition of his many years of dedication to the club. Congratulations to Peter! A very worthy recipient. (Photo attached)

One of the outcomes of the meeting tonight was the 100 metre markers. I have been given permission to go ahead with marking the 100 metre positions with a distinct and suitable plant. I will do this as soon as possible before anyone changes their mind. This, together with winning the best commercial garden - I have had a great week.

Golf - Tuesday 25th September 2007

Today was the monthly medal stroke event and we had 82 players. We played in groups of three which has been met with a lot of approval by the members. The 'bundy clock'
was active today which resulted in teams coming in under four hours. "Amazing".

The results of the day:

R/up - Sheena Asken 74 C/B
Third - Judy Verlander 74
Fourth - Yvonne Bean 75

CCR was 74 and the balls went to 76 on a count back.

Highlights reported to me today were: Lynda Hartley: 4 on the 1st with one putt and a gobbler on the 8th for a par; Annette Dunk had a birdie on the 6th; Wendy Stapleton had pars on the 14th, 15th & 16th; June Hayes had two gobblers; Kath Payne had a birdie on the 16th; Rhonda Robertson had a gobbler on the 5th; Kath Small had a par on the 15th; Di Beechey had a par on the 1st; Glennis English had pars on the 10th & the 11th; Evelyn Dixon had a par on the 8th & won nearest the pin; Rosemary had 5 on the 4th hole; and for me it was a 4 on the 15th with one putt.

Other reports : On the 11th hole Shirley Daly was looking for her lost ball. Her team spotted a ball only to find out that it was Cyril's ball that he had lost on Sunday; Mary Ellis, Margaret MacLachlan & Wendy Stapleton played together today & realised each of their husbands are named "Ray". Birthdays being celebrated this week were Doreen Vines (photo attached receiving special acknowledgement from Di Thomlinson for turning 80) Paula Drew, Debbie Grinham & Judy Verlander (Picture attached).

Golf - Thursday 6th September 2007

Today's event was a single stableford. We had only 38 players today mainly due to the threatening weather. During the match we would have had all four seasons all sweeping through in turns which made hard work out of the golf.
My playing partners today were Beulah Cant, Bev Walker (Pictured) & (late starter) Rita Gilmour. Rita had 20 points on the front nine so the weather did not worry her.
Sue Hutton was our winner today, blowing us all out of the water with a magnificent 44 points. Welcome to "A" grade Sue.
CCR was 76 or 33 points. Balls went to 29 on a countback.
Highlights reported to me today were: Sue Hutton - (too many highlights to count) shall we just say 87 off the stick including 9 three pointer holes during the match; Norma Cubis - Marking Sue Hutton's card; Di Beechey par on the 13th for 4/4; Fay Bailey - the first and the last hole; Bev Adams did some great shots along the fairway; Debra Neate had a great drive on the 17th and finished with the same ball she started with; Linda Dallas had 18 points on the back nine playing on a new course for her; Dawn Tromp did a huge drive on the 7th; Margaret Nash had 5/3 on the 4th and the 16th; Jan Weiley nearly had two pars; Cheryl Davison almost had a hole in one on the 5th - the ball hit the flag pole & putt in for a birdie; Sharon Anderson had a par on the 16th; Judy Verlander birdied the 1st for 3/4; Kathy Small had 5/3 on the 16th; Beulah Cant had a par on the 5th; Rita Gilmour 4/4 on the 15th; and for me a long putt on the 16th for 5/2 & a 5/3 on the 9th.
Images: Beula Cant, Myself & Bev Walker on the 1st; Baby ducks on the 15th - almost fully grown; Flowers from our native garden on the 6th; red kangaroo paw now flowering on the 6th
which had been transferred from the old 13th garden; Peaches & Cream Grevillea on the 13th tee ladies garden; rock lillies growing at the back of the men's tee on the 10th - these I believe were donated by Robin & Rob Brann some years ago.
