Monday 6th August 2007 - New Garden 2nd tee

This is a new garden created today on the 2nd tee at the ladies hit off tee. These plants were donated to the club by June Bowen. The tree fern was replanted from the 18th tee.

Photos attached : Bev Way creating the new garden; new garden.

During the course of planting out this garden I took umpteen trips to the dam to collect water one bucket at a time only to discover at the end of planting that we had a drain with running water right next to where we were working. We might have to find a way to capture some of this water for the gardens.

Monday - 6th August 2007 - 2nd tee Garden

The "F-Troop" in action today on the 2nd tee. We are going to create a new garden behind the men's tee and tidy up the side garden. Bev Way contributed a good mornings work into clearing and tidying up the gardens before the F-troop arrived & now it is all ready for re-planting. Well done Bev & the "F-Troop".

About the Adopt-a-Garden Scheme

The adopt-a-garden scheme is supported by members who are prepared to look after one special part of the course for a period of twelve months. It can be a small garden or shrub; a large garden; a path or just to clean and rake up paths and woody areas that become untidy from time to time. Members can work alone or as a pair/group. Work can be done on any day at any time that suits them. The local rules for this scheme can be found on the main notice board. Jan Martin & Wendy Stapleton are the co-ordinators of this program.

About the F-Troop

The F-Troop is a group of volunteer members from the Gosford Golf Club who work most Mondays from 8 am to 12 pm on the grounds of the golf course. This is part of the garden & grounds enhancement program to assist the greenkeeper & his staff to beautify & maintain the course to the manner to which we would like to become accustomed. The Captain of the group is Clyde Cruickshank who directs the traffic & co-ordinates with David Nicholls, our course superintendent. The Gosford Golf Course has a huge potential & it is great to see the members taking an interest.
