There will be some good photos to follow.

LATE REPORTS

I will be overseas for a couple of weeks playing golf in Vietnam so the blog may well be a little behind with the golf reports - depending on if I have access to Wi-Fi and have sufficient time while we are on the run. I know there are some parts of Vietnam that do not have any Internet access so there could be some large gaps in my reports.

The Blog will return to business as usual in a couple of weeks.

F-Troop - Monday 15th April 2013

We had a good day for our F-Troop Projects today and were able to achieve some good work before the predicted wet weather arrived this evening.

We had ten volunteers to share the work load.  Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Rob Benson, Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Bruce White, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

The course was in a reasonable order so we put the rubbish pick up on hold and concentrated on other tasks at hand.

The Tree Gang this week was Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Rob Benson & Bruce White.  They worked down the 18th and at the 1st.

A good project completed today was a garden arbor at the 14th tee.  The purpose of the garden arbor is to provide some shade over an otherwise very hot area which should bring some comfort to our golfers during the hot weather and will protect the existing plants that have been heat affected.  We are very fortunate to have a few talented maintenance men in our F-Troop who effortlessly constructed the arbor before morning tea.  Thanks to Trevor Don & Peter for a job well done!  Don also did some plumbing repairs to the bush toilets.

Di Beechey and Anne Burgess concentrated on cleaning up the back of the clubhouse, the car park back and front including tidying gardens at the front of the clubhouse and at the 14th tee.

I worked on watering the gardens at the 1st and 10th tees, tidied the gardens there and cleaned the water feature; cleaned the bush toilets and watered the gardens there, watered the wedding garden area; tidied up the Ladies Garden at the 13th tee.

Morning tea was some huge iced buns which we appreciated after a hard mornings work.  Thanks Chef John!

There were a large social group of golfers and the Ladies Pennants matches on the course so we were a bit restricted in our use of the course.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Sunday 14th April 2013

We had a beautiful day for golf - blue sky and sunshine and a nice 25 degrees.

Our playing partners were George & Vicki Foster and we had a fun day on the Village Green.  Our highlight of the day was beating the boys for the Keno Ticket at the 17th hole after Peter sank a gobbler putt in for a 3 pointer for a last desperate attempt to win the hole. I matched him with a good putt in for a 3 pointer to dash their hopes of a win.

The Golf Event of the day was a Team Stableford 1 X 2 X 3 for Men and Ladies (Must be a Lady per team)

We had 76 starters with 2 visitors from Wyong.

Saturday Evening 13th April 2013 - The Baby Boomers

We had a great night at the "Baby Boomers" evening where 130 odd guests were entertained with popular songs from the 50's and 60's (The Baby Boomers Era that we know so well).  The songs were not mimed and all of the singers were very talented - taking off the original singers very well.  While technical problems marred the flow of the show (something that we did not experience at New Year's Eve) the entertainment was very good and it was great to see that a good number of the patrons stayed on to enjoy dancing into the small hours.

I would encourage club patrons to give this show another viewing should they return to our club at another time.  I enjoyed both of their shows and the dancing afterwards which makes a good finish to the night. Even though the presentation was not as professional ( because of the technical problems with the sound system) as the New Year's Eve Show, the talent was there and I am sure the presentation will be back on track for the next show.
