Golf - Sunday 7th April 2013








We had a lovely day for golf today - not too hot and not too cold together with a bonus of no rain.

Our playing partners today were David & Kath Small and we had a very enjoyable day on the village green with our main highlights being two birdies from the boys, and the girls both scoring 5/4 at the 18th and to top it off we brought home the winner of the Ladies Singles - How good does it get!!!!

The Golf Event of the day was a Medley Irish Team Event + Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.

We had 75 starters with 1 visitor from Ryde Parramatta.

IRISH TEAM RESULTS:

WINNERS:  Frank Smith, Terry Kay, Leigh Kay and Craig Ward - 118 points.

RUNNERS UP:  Kevin O'Brien, Lorraine Bignall, John Hazzard & Julie Hazzard - 115 points

MEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER:  Craig Ward - 42 points

RUNNER UP:  Barrie Singh - 41 points

WOMEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER:  Kath Small - 35 points

RUNNER UP:  Lauren Matterson - 34 points

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Ray Stapleton had 4/5 on the 10th; Peter Martin had a birdie chip in 2/4 on the 5th; David Small had a birdie 3/3 on the 15th; Kath Small had 5/4 on the 18th and won the Ladies Singles Event; Annie Brink had 3/4 on the 8th; Wal Robertson had 4/4 on the 9th; Lorraine Bignall was on the 4th for 2, had 20 points on the back 9 and was on the green in one on the Par 3 5/8/12; Kevin O'Brien played a steady game; Rae Brown had a 4/4 at the 1st; Vicki Foster had five 3 pointers, Team had 65 points on the front 9;  Clyde Cruickshanks had birdies at the 13th and the 14th; Wal Bailey had a nice 37 points; Bruce Binns highlight was watching Peter Martin chip in for a birdie at the 5th; Rosalie Dyer had a 3 pointer hole at the 14th; Boys beat the girls in the Dyer/Binns group; Kay Frewin - on two occasions chipping to the green - hit the flagstick but failed to go in the hole; Mary Bromwich had a birdie at the 8th; Brent Frewin had a birdie at the 10th; The boys beat the girls for the Keno Ticket in the Martin/Small group but very narrowly at the 17th with Peter Martin matching his wife's 3 pointer - Kath and Jan then went on the score a 4 pointer each at the 18th for which the boys had no answer; My highlight was scoring 4/3 at the 1st, 5/3 at the 17th and 5/4 at the 18th and bringing home the winner.
