Bridal Expo - Sunday 30th January 2011

My thanks to Krystal Day, our Functions Manager, for the following report on the Bridal Expo held at the club on Sunday :

===============================================================
This year Gosford Golf and Function Centre held it's biggest Bridal Expo yet with over 65 suppliers in attendance.

Brides had a great opportunity to meet all of the people that they needed to make their special day PERFECT!

Some of the people that brides were able to meet and book included celebrants, photographers, florists, DJ's, MC's, cake makers, live music, make up and hair artists, stationery experts and of course travel agents for that perfect honeymoon.

From the Club's perspective we had a very successful day. We had consistent traffic all day and a lot of interest and enquiries.

Generally we do not take bookings on the day, with brides taking the time to come in around a month after the expo to make their wedding dreams come true.

Many thanks to Alvin, Sally, Lucy, Peta, Wendy & our other staff who helped make the day such a success.

......looking forward to next year's expo already!

===========================================================

I have also heard that one of the attending wedding celebrants was very impressed with the Expo and complimented Alvin and the staff on the management of the day.

F-Troop - Monday 24th January 2011

While Peter & I were having some R & R t Byron Bay F-Troopers carried on regardless achieving some great work in our absence.
We had 13 F-Troopers working hard all morning. Martin, Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, George Foster, Garry Trigg, Warren Gray, Bruce White, John Coddington, Noel Fenning,Mark Stimpson, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Walker all earned their morning tea.
Di Beechey, Jan Walker and Anne Burgess cleaned up the BBQ area through to the wedding garden. Anne Burgess and Di Beachey cleaned out the ponds at the wedding garden.
Noel Fenning with the help of John Coddington did a fantastic job re-marking the parking spots (twice) in three of the car parks and this time thankfully we did not have any rain to wash it off.
Warren Gray did a morning shift on the rough cutter.
Garry Trigg and Bruce White did the rubbish pick up around the course.
Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Kerry Cubis and George Foster did tree trimming on the second fairway.
I believe that the weather has been very hot at home - so well done F-troopers - you have all earned a gold star.
We have done the last of the rogue grass poisoning for the season to give the course time to recover before winter. Our thanks to everyone that has volunteered their time for this project and many thanks to Mark Stimpson for supervising the teams.
There is no wonder we can say with confidence.....
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
My thanks to Martin Gallagher for details and photos for the report..

F-Troop - Monday 17th January 2011

It was a blistering hot, humid day and our F-Troopers did well to get through their allocated jobs before the heat really set in.
We had 13 F-Troopers to share the load today which was great and we did get quite a lot of work done. On duty we had Geoff Bridge, Martin Gallagher, Kerry Cubis, Peter Martin, Peter Murphy, George Foster,Warren Gray, Sam Knox, Des Wilson, Yvonne Wilson, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.
Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, George Foster were the "Tree Gang" and worked on the second fairway trimming overgrown trees.
Kerry Cubis and Peter Murphy did pick up duty - cleaning up large branches, sticks and rubbish from around the course.
Warren Gray did a long shift on the rough cutter.
Sam Knox did a long shift on the wood splitting for our firewood sales.
Des & Yvonne Wilson did some good watering of their gardens.
Di Beechey & Anne Burgess did a huge mornings work starting on tidying the front car park and entry to the Pro Shop, "Camellia Way' where they chipped and weeded, fertilized and mulched all of the camellias, The 1st and 2nd tees which they raked & watered the gardens, the putting green gardens and wedding gardens which they fertilized and watered, raking & cleaning the BBQ area and the walkways down to the 1st and 10th tees.
I worked on "Camellia Way" with Di and Anne then watered all the camellias, bouganvilleas & the garden at the 18th with Peter's help with the watering system which can be difficult to access at times. We also raked and tidied the paths and garden & took away a trailer load of rubbish.
After morning tea we did a pick up of the rubbish at the 1st & 10th tees and cleaned up behind the 1st tee.
Peter Martin spent a good bit of his day organising everyone else - being the 'gofer' for all the watering equipment and tools that were required by everyone and was assistant rubbish picker upper.
Morning tea was very welcome as we had exhausted ourselves working in all the heat. This morning we had fresh fruit pastries still warm from the oven thanks to Chef John.
We had a lovely surprise this morning when Trevor Blackburn arrived with the Utility vehicle that he has donated to F-Troop to assist us with our work. Many thanks Trevor! Your generosity is much appreciated by our workers and the club.
With all this help it is no wonder we can say....
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Golf - Sunday 16th January 2011

We had a bonus day at golf today having a very warm humid day that turned into a reasonably pleasant day for a brief period of cloud cover and cooling breeze. The clouds threatened at one stage but did not turn to rain so we were happy to settle for warm & humid rather than wet.
