Golf - Thursday 3rd June 2010

There was a bit more rain overnight which was enough to make the course very wet underfoot but not enough to close the course for play. There were a few light showers during play but it mainly stayed dry until the golf was finished.

The Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford Over-the-field in conjunction with the 3rd round of the 4 ball Knock Out competition.

We had 19 starters with 1 visitor from Lynwood in the single stableford and 16 players in the knockout.

You may notice a difference in the appearance of the outdoor furniture outside the clubhouse, at the putting green and at the 1st tee. F-Troop's project for this week was to clean & paint all of the outdoor furniture that was getting shabby from age. The furniture has come up "as new" and should stay tidy for some time to come if it is treated with respect by the players.

The first tee had a face lift - having a gurney washout around the seats, sand storage bucket area and YES!..... even the GARBAGE BINS have been restored to a decent shade of aqua blue with no fungi attached.

Many thanks to our F-Troopers working today who were Peter Martin, Martin Gallagher, Bruce White and Georgina Lamb - thanks also to Peter Martin and Geoff Bridge who did a painting shift on Tuesday. That is in addition to the painting work that was done at F-Troop's normal work day on Monday (see previous posting).

F-Troop will continue the painting project to the "on the course" seating which will need fine weather to complete - so this task will be done over a period of time. The bench seats and table donated by Peter & Margaret Davidson is currently getting restored & should be back in place in the next few weeks.
