Golf - Saturday 5th June 2010

I am pleased to report that there WAS golf played today - not as to the scheduled event but never the less we had players out on the course. Those that I spoke with said that the course condition was good considering the amount of rainfall that we have had. It was a hard slog with the fairways very wet underfoot and the bunkers out of play as they were full of water. I have been told that the greens were in good order after all the wet.
It could have been a lot worse - I saw on TV that Mona Vale had severe damage, having one of their greens collapsed leaving a large gaping hole to be repaired. There was something like 106 mmtrs of rainfall for the month of June in Sydney & we would have been close to that. That is a lot of water in a short amount of time.
The Event of the day was changed to a Single Stableford with Tee-Up through the green.
There was no handicapping because of the Tee-Up ruling and the bunkers ruled as GUR.
We had 49 starters.
RESULTS: (confirmed)
WINNER: Liam Walker - 43 points
RUNNER UP: Tony Consentino - 42 points on a countback
3RD: Roy Hammond - 42 points on a countback
4TH: Jason Harris - 42 points
NEAREST THE PINS: To be advised
BALLS WENT TO: 37 points neat
NO HANDICAPPING TODAY.
It was so good to have some sunshine and even a little breeze to start to dry the course out.
If we do not have much rain tonight I would be expecting the course to be open for Sunday golf.
Please check with the Pro Shop in the morning if the weather deteriorates overnight.
