Golf - Monday 14th June 2010

F-Trooper Georgina Lamb volunteered 5 hours on her Monday Long Week-end to help me in the gardens today. We managed to achieve quite a bit of work in that time planting some new camellias in the wedding garden near the practice nets, trimming shrubs & trees at the 2nd tee garden as well as removing weeds and placing more plants donated by Annette Dunk to fill in spaces in the gardens which are now taking on more of a rain Forrest look. The Bromeliads are all coming into flower & will look spectacular in the oncoming months. We watered in the new plants & also chipped and weeded around the tibouchinas & crepe myrtles on the left hand side of the 2nd fairway & gave them some extra water as well. F-Trooper Di Beechey was also on duty cleaning up the bromeliad garden at the 2nd green which has some beautiful flowers coming on as well. (photo to come tomorrow) and Di also tidied up the 12th garden & the BBQ area. We also had some of our male F-Troopers on duty delivering firewood orders that raise money to pay for our F-Troop projects such as the new camellias at the wedding garden. A big thank you to those Members who are supporting our sales of firewood this winter. We have a good stock as our tree loppers have been busy this year. See our F-Troop notice board for details on purchasing firewood or ring Martin Gallagher to arrange for delivery.
The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.
We had 41 starters with 6 visitors from Everglades, Mangrove Mountain, Tuggerah Lakes and Wyong.
