Golf - Sunday 13th June 2010

We had a brilliant day for golf today - blue sky and sunshine with a little brisk breeze to keep us awake. The course has dried out considerably & the greens are in good condition. Today the greens were a little faster & some of the pins were in tricky places - that is my excuse anyway.
Our playing partners today were Russ and Jacque Davidson & they were great company to share the village green with. Jacque scored some great 3 pointers & was our star player of the day. We had some great scores in as you can see by the results so the course did suit a lot of people.
The Event of the day was a 2 Ball Team + Single Stableford Mixed Men & Ladies.
We had 109 starters with 3 visitors from Mona Vale, PGA & Trundle.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Jacque Davidson had a beautiful long putt into the hole at the 11th; Jan Van Den Berg had two 4 pointers; Yvonne Wilson had some good pars on the 3rd, 5th, 8th & nearly a birdie on the 12th - a good effort for her first game for a while; Steven Cross had birdies on the 14th & 15th; Robin Incoll had a birdie on the 8th & won nearest the pin - 56 cms; Julie Hazzard had two 4 pointers & nearly had a hole in one; Ray Stapleton & Jan Walker both had 5/4 on the 10th; Wayne Tomkinson's highlight was partnering with 3 girls; Rae Brown had 2/5 on the 14th; Wally Robertson had 23 points after the first 8 holes; George Foster & Des Wilson won the Keno ticket from the girls, George hit a wayward shot off the 13th tee - hit the tree to the left & rebounded into Vicki who was sitting at the ladies seat on the 13th tee - Vicki is okay but George may not be; Garry Wilkinson had birdies on the 14th & 15th; David Small had two 4 pointers including 2/4 at the 12th 110cms from the hole which may have won nearest the pin.
Another delightful highlight today was the announcement of the engagement of Spencer Walklate and Tania Burt. Congratulations Spencer and Tania!
The benefit day previously arranged for Robbie Brann for the end of this month has been postponed to a future date which will be announced in due course.
