F-Troop - Monday 1st July 2013

It was great to have some blue sky and sunshine for today's big project which was the removal of the big tree at the front of the club house.  The whole project went perfectly with our team of contractors from All Tree Solutions working very efficiently and safely to take the tree down in about 3 hours.

We had some good help from F-Troopers and the green staff which made the project so much easier.

On hand we had Duncan Dyer, Sam Knox, Trevor Harrison, Don Nicholls, Martin Gallagher, Rob Benson, Garry Trigg, Warren Gray, Peter Martin, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.  Dave & Matt were on hand from the ground staff to help with the Bobcat and timber removal.

The All Tree Solutions team included Lloyd Johnston who is the grandson of Wally & Robyn Johnston.  Lloyd showed us his skills with the chainsaw when he removed the last large piece of the the tree trunk.

We were all mesmerised watching the tree coming down in such a short time.  The group were very skillful in their operations and we all envied the wood chipping machine that would make keeping the golf course clean very easy.  Our tree cutter was like a monkey - moving through the tree with ease and confidence - obviously he knew exactly what he needed to do.  This tree was considered a small tree by their standards.  If you have any trees that need attention then this team should be considered.

Anne spent her time working in the BBQ area trimming back the grasses and gardens. Anne then helped me to trim the begonias at the 10th and to make a start of the garden maintenance at the front street.

I planted in the last of the red hedge plants at the 10th tee, sprayed the roses for winter diseases, trimmed some of the begonias at the 10th and potted the cuttings and then made a start on the maintenance of the front street garden helped by Peter who used the hedge trimmer to speed up the process.

Morning tea of Jam Croissants was much appreciated by our bigger than usual group.  Thanks Chef John!

There is more work to be done in the car park following the removal of the tree stump.  The hole will be filled and asphalt laid in all the needy spots including the side entry which will be welcomed by the Members and everyone else that uses the car parks.

YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
