F-Troop - Monday 19th March 2012

We had some more rain overnight and early this morning but that did not dampen our spirits having 10 workers turn up this morning to take care of some serious tasks.

We had Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Rob Benson, Warren Gray, Sam Knox, Nigel Asken, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Georgina Lamb and Jan Martin.

The boys had the task of repairing paths which was rather daunting as the wet weather has caused a lot of damage to all the paths.  Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Rob Benson & Sam Knox worked on as many paths as they could using six trailer loads of fill and worked the 18th, 17th, 16th, 15th, 14th, 13th & 11th paths.

Nigel Asken worked on the 1st fairway removing crab grass.

Rob Benson completed some drainage work on the back of the Men's 10th tee so that the water problems there are under control.   Rob & Sam Knox worked on clearing some drains before assisting the road gang with the paths.

Anne Burgess tidied up the back car park & then worked on "Camellia Way'" fertilizing and weeding all the camellias along the pathway.

Georgina Lamb did a great job of cleaning the furniture & windows underneath the clubhouse so it looks neat and tidy.

Di Beechey worked on the BBQ area & then helped me to plant some gardenias at the wedding garden, a box hedge plant at the 1st tee, transplant an elephant's ear plant to the 2nd tee garden, stake up the geisha girl plants on the 1st, and then weeded and trimmed one of the native gardens at the 6th.

Morning tea of fruit loaf was very welcome after all the mornings hard work.  Thanks Chef John!

We said farewell to Nigel this morning as this was to be his last volunteer day for a while as he has landed a full time contract which will not allow him the luxury of Mondays off.   Our thanks to Nigel for all of his very hard work over the last month or so.  Nigel has single handedly taken on the task of removing crab grasses off our fairways - A job well appreciated.  THANKS NIGEL!

A Working Bee is being run next Monday by the Greens Committee - asking for all members (both male and female) to contribute some time if they possibly can.  We need to contain the growth of the rogue weeds that are infesting the fairways during all the wet weather.  The weeds are thriving and need to be physically removed where possible.  If you think you can contribute some time next Monday then assemble at the clubhouse at 7.30 am. Bring a digging tool of your choice suitable to remove the weeds.

We only had a small crew today but.........Yes! We did make a difference.

YES!  WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
