Golf - Saturday 6th November 2010

Not surprisingly we had some very reluctant starters this morning after having several inches of rain fall in the last few days. Due to the threatening rain, lack of numbers and bunkers being GUR the Monthly Medal Event was postponed until next Saturday and a Single Stableford was played with no handicapping due to the GUR bunkers.
F-Troop provided a BBQ for the Members which was well supported by those Members that were there. Your support of the BBQ is most appreciated as all proceeds go towards F-Troop projects to beautify the course. Some of the Members gave additional donations to our cause which was most appreciated and one Member donated his green fees which impressed me no end. The intention is to provide a BBQ for Members on Medal days the first of which will be next Saturday.
The course was surprisingly resilient to the recent downpours and damage is very minimal. The course did have casual water lying in places on the fairways but it was not as bad as you would think. The course was very playable this afternoon & if we do not have any heavy rain overnight tomorrow should be a good day for golf. The greens are great, the bunkers of course another story. Check with the Pro Shop tomorrow for updated conditions and local rules.
The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men.
We had 51 starters with 3 visitors from Oberon, Tokyo and Virginia Qld.
