Golf - Tuesday 24th November 2009

It is such a shame that the weather put a 'dampener' on our Tuesday Competition Closing Day. We look forward to this day every year as it is a nice relaxed and friendly day. We take the opportunity to dress up in Christmas Good Cheer outfits to add some spirit to the day and most Members do contribute some good efforts to this cause.

It was good to see all the Christmas Shirts & colours out there regardless of the rain and to have 99 starters in this kind of weather was fantastic. Congratulations to all our Members who participated today!

I am so disappointed that the "Christmas Fairies" could not make an appearance in the 'golf' segment as their wings were not waterproof. Maybe next year we will have to throw down the gauntlet for the "Best Dressed" competition as this year was a walkover with the "Christmas Fairy" outfits. I am sure we have some imaginative Members out there that can "out do" this year's effort. We need more competition!

The Event of the day was a Team Stableford 1 x 2 x 3 and we had 99 starters.

RESULTS:

TEAM WINNERS: Di Thomlinson, Rhonda Robertson, Helen Potter and Lyn Douglas - 85 points

RUNNERS UP: Rae Brown, Helen Broadbent, Carmen Fitzgerald, and Leanne Moore - 81 points

THIRD: Di Beechey, Christine Drakeford, Soo Chun and Silvia Lee - 80 points

SCRATCH WINNERS: Lorraine Linnert, Michelle Martin, Sheena Asken - 41 points

BALLS WENT TO: 72 points neat

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: I did not get any highlights reported today - I suppose the weather had a lot to do with the scores - however we did have some distractions today & I did not make it around all of the tables at Presentation - so sorry if I missed anything wonderful. Our team started out as world beaters and petered out as the rain increased so I suppose I can say our first two holes were our highlight together with winning our Chocolate Mint Cream Wafers for looking so 'beautiful'.
