Golf - Melbourne Cup Day Tuesday 3rd November 2009

Melbourne Cup Day is always a big celebration day for our Lady Golfers. The Ladies Committee does a wonderful job of organising the day. Our special thanks to outgoing President Rosemary Cohen who signed off from her official duties today - this being her last function for the year.
The Magnolia Room looked a picture decorated with fresh flowers from our Members gardens (Barbara Stratford & Jan Martin) & arranged beautifully by Alice Collett. The delicious Lunch choices were catered for by Chef John and our kitchen staff and enjoyed by all. The social committee did a great job of the raffles and sweepstake tickets.
Prior to the running of the Melbourne Cup "Sandlewood" of East Gosford presented a Fashion Parade using volunteer Club Members to model the fashions with Rosemary Cohen as compere.
We did play golf today - an 8.00 am Shot Gun start to get our Members all back into the clubhouse in time for Lunch and the Fashion Parade. It was a very hot day and I think most of us were looking forward to a nice afternoon in the comfort of an air conditioner.
We had Presentation prior to the running of the Melbourne Cup after which we watched the race on the big screen in the Magnolia Room That was at least until we had a malfunction of the technical equipment in the middle of the race. Not all was lost as most of us managed to catch the end of the race on the outside screens.
The Event of the day was a Team Stableford - 2 scores to count and we had 66 players with visitors from Everglades, Wyong and Morisset.
My playing partners today were Rosalie Dyer, Yvonne Wilson and Shirley Daly. The golf gods were not with us but we did have a lovely day.
GOLF RESULTS: TEAM STABLEFORD
WINNERS: Dawn Tromp, Christine Drakeford, Lesley Gregory and Jan Walker - 93 points
RUNNERS UP: Glennis English, Leonie Casey, Doris Morris and Rita Gilmour - 91 points
BALL COMP: Balls went to 85 points

NO HANDICAPPING TODAY.
My thanks to Debbie Grinham for taking charge of my camera for some photo shoots when I had lapsed into social mode.
