Golf - Thursday 26th November 2009

Sunshine for our Thursday Ladies Closing Day was very welcome after the constant drizzle of last Tuesday's Closing Day and we were lucky enough to have cloud cover right up to the last 6 or so holes.
My playing partners were Helen Stuart & Elly Van Den Berg and we had a lovely day. We had some great highlights including a birdie at the 14th and a gobbler chip in from Elly at the 2nd for a par as well as some good long one putts from all of us which made our day.
The Event of the day was a 3 Ball Ambrose and we had 41 starters which was good to see.
RESULTS:
WINNERS: Sheena Asken, Doreen Trigg and Victoria Gill - 63 2/6ths
RUNNERS UP: Glennis English, Lynn Puiatti and Doreen Vines - 65 5/6ths
3RD: Alice Collett, Tania Burt and Genny Rutledge - 66 5/6ths
ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD: Rosemary Judd and Julie Hazzard
BALL COMPETITION: Balls went to : 68 2/6ths
Annette Dunk, Yvonne Cumming and Soo Chun - 67 3/6ths
Linda Rankin, Mary Beard and Margaret Nichols - 67 4/6ths
Kay Adams, Silvia Lee and Beulah Cant - 67 4/6ths
Jennifer Sattar, Barbara Stratford and F. James - 68 2/6ths
This was the first time we have attempted to make use of the Wedding Garden Area for Presentation and it proved to be very successful with most players staying on for a BBQ lunch, wine, tea, coffee and cake which was very well organised by Anne Burgess, Di Beechey, Judy Hughes, Sharon Anderson and Margaret Mackie. Our special congratulations to these girls for a wonderful effort and we had the great result of a profit of $190 which will go to charity. WELL DONE GIRLS! This should not be the last time this is done as it is a lovely venue for any occasion - not only weddings - and we, the Members should take advantage of it.
This brings me to the HAWAIIAN NIGHT which is being held tomorrow (Friday 27th November) in the WEDDING GARDEN AREA - check the Events Blog for details. There are going to be a very limited number of seats available so Members are being asked to please BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS and perhaps a chair for a friend.
