Golf - Sunday 8th November 2009

We had a very mixed day for golf today. A few showers, a little wind, a little sunshine, more showers, heavier showers, more sunshine and a whole heap of very annoying bush flies. I must have had my umbrella up and down twenty times but at least when it was raining we did get some relief from the relentless flies. The course was in great condition, especially the greens and there was not a great deal of water laying around after overnight and early morning rain. We had some great scores come in so the weather and flies did not annoy everyone. Our playing partners were Ray & Norma Presdee and the boys won the keno ticket hands down. We did go on to win $120 with the keno ticket so we all had a happy day with Peter coming in with 42 points which made his & our day.
The event of the day was a Singles for Men and Ladies plus Medley Teams Event.
We had 103 starters with 30 visitors from Ashlar, Asquith, Carnarvon, Cumberland, Everglades, Fox Hills, Oatlands, Port Kembla and Toukley.

LADIES 8TH: Vicky Morris
BALLS WENT TO:

LADIES: 32 points neat
CCR MEN: 69 (38 points)
AWCR LADIES: 73 (36 points)
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Ray Presdee birdied the 10th; Michael Norman playing the 18th hole was on the 18th,11th, 10th and then back to the 18th (probably trying to repeat his highlight from Friday's match on the 9th - see Friday blog report); Bob Morris had a birdie on the 4th, when he was hitting off the 5th tee he noticed someone alighting from a boat at the creek at the 6th tee - as he watched the person ran to the 5th green and snatched the flag from the green. Bob gave chase but was too late to catch the boat leaving the creek area with 5 people on board - holding the flag from our green. There is no accounting for some people and that is another overhead that the club has to bear. ( Thanks for your efforts in the chase Bob!) Terry Bowditch had birdies on the 1st and 2nd holes, Mary Beard putted well & played steady for her 41 points; Team of JimForrester, Carmen Fitzgerald, Jim Crean and Judy Mulheron had 50 points at the half way; Judy Mulheron had four 3 pointers and one four pointer in a row; Team of Wally & Fay Baily and Dick & Joyce Bosley had two 4/4's on the 4th; Vicki Foster had 4/3 on the 17th; my highlight was making a good putt back down close to the pin after chipping over the back of the 5th green & at the end of the match finishing with the same ball I started with.
While on the subject of stolen flags I must mention the stolen "golf swing" image from the photo frame in the Ladies Bush Toilet. It was stolen several weeks ago by some non-caring person who thoughtfully left the empty photo frame there. I will be replacing the image at F-Troop tomorrow. I did have a copy in the Men's side at one time but it was stolen frame and all in the first few days that it was put there. If anyone is desperate for a copy of the "golf swing" image - please see me & I will arrange to get a copy to you.
As we did not have a lot of presentation photos today I thought I would throw in some updated photos of our grandson Joel - now 5 months. I would hate for you to get out of date with his progress.
