Golf - Tuesday 7th August 2012

We had some lovely sunshine to enjoy at golf today so we had some fun on the village green.

My playing partners were Kathy Small and Nan Richards and we had an enjoyable day with some
good highlights - the best of which was us bringing in Nan as the winner of Div 3 which was a great achievement for Nan as this was her first game at Gosford and she had not played golf for two months - previously being a Member of Asquith.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MICHELLE McGRATH FOR AN EAGLE AT THE 9TH
after a lovely drive Michelle used her 4 hybrid to neatly roll her ball into the hole for a fantastic eagle.
Well done Michelle! (but don't forget to read her other highlights)

The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stroke - Club & 6th WGNSW Medal.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Kathy Small hit a beautiful chip out of the bunker at the 16th which hit the flag and almost went into the hole for a par; Nan Richards parred the 8th and had good holes at the 13th and 16th narrowly missing pars; Margaret Pratt had four pars; Michelle McGrath had a great Eagle at the 9th; chipped in on the 18th and because she did not have to use her putter there she accidentally left it behind on the green - discovered after having reached the 1st green and had no putter so had to use her 4 wood and finished up with 4 putts (and I think Michelle won the Div 1 putting even with this misdemeanor); Lorraine Linnert was so excited about Michelle's Eagle that she hit the wrong ball (belonging to a social player);  Pam Witt had a gobbler par on the 9th; Susan Bourne played nice golf; Allison Guthrie played steady golf; Robyn Krahe fell in the dam at the 2nd up to her knees trying to extract her ball from the slush at the edge of the water (didn't upset her too much as she went on to win Div 1); Helen Darkes had a birdie at the 14th and won nearest the pin; Robin Incoll had a gobbler at the 12th and four pars; Ronda Jordon & Doreen Vines battled it out for the most sand bunker shots and I heard numbers like 15 and 16 bantered about; my highlights were getting several one putt greens which made my day as well as bringing in a winner.  Another highlight for us all today was to see Berri Hanley back for a visit today while she is recovering from her recent injury and cannot return to golf just yet.  Welcome back Berri!
