F-Troop Monday 3rd October 2011

The morning was not looking promising early but warmed up to a nice day & the F-Troopers were able to get a lot of work done with a skeleton crew due to the Public Holiday.

We had on hand Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Martin Gallagher, Rob Benson, Peter Martin, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess and Jan Martin.

Martin, Geoff & Duncan repaired some holes in the fence line along Racecourse Road, damaged by freeloaders using the course as their own.  They then went on to remove a tree to allow for a wider path at the 9th, collected  loose branches, trimmed branches and removed rubbish from the gardens.

Di Beechey cleaned up the car parks & the BBQ area & worked on transplanting the plants from the 10th tee to other gardens.  Anne Burgess is working with Di on refreshing this garden by removing all the tired plants and transplanting others to more suitable gardens.

Anne worked with me to plant two camellias in the wedding garden (donated by Helen Stuart) , transplanted some agapanthus and elephants ear from the 10th tee to the garden at the 2nd tee.

Peter Martin & Rob Benson collected two trailer loads of mulch and spread them over the gardens at the front of the club and the wedding garden.  Rob helped to transplant & remove shrubs from the 10th tee.

I contacted Michael at Savannah Lawns & Gardens at West Gosford regarding the new hedge plants at the front of the club in view of replacing the damaged ones.  Michael very kindly offered to replace the plants free of charge and delivered them to the club within the hour.  Michael also donated a lavender plant to each of the F-Troopers working at the club to either take home or to use in the club gardens. This was as a celebration gift for our recent win in the council garden competition for "Best Commercial Garden"

HOW GOOD IS THAT!  THANKS MICHAEL!  YOUR SUPPORT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

The F-Troopers replaced the hedge plants and re-set the protective ropes at the front entrance which hopefully this time will remain in place until maturity.

We all worked hard this morning and morning tea of Mini Muffins was very welcome.  Thanks Chef John!

YES!  WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

MY BLOG UPDATES WILL BE SPASMODIC IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS WHILE I WILL BE AWAY ON HOLIDAYS.   I will update when I have the opportunity.

In the mean time HAPPY GOLFING!
