F-Troop - Monday 17th October 2011

Just a few showers were not enough to stop F-Troop work today & fortunately we had 16 volunteers this morning which was fantastic as we had some major jobs to be done and many hands make light work.

We had Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Duncan Dyer, Sam Knox, Peter Martin, Rob Benson, Kerry Cubis, George Foster, Garry Trigg, Bruce White, Warren Gray, Mark Stimpson, Di Beechey, Anne Burgess, Georgina Lamb & Jan Martin which allowed us to get some big jobs done.

Working on repairing the fence line along Raceourse Road & removing rubbish were Martin, Duncan, Geoff, Kerry, George, Garry, Bruce, Warren & Mark.  They did a fantastic job maintaining the fence which was in very bad repair from vandals breaking the fence down.

Sam & Rob collected 4 trailer loads of woodchip mulch for the gardens & spread it on the gardens.

Di, Anne, Georgina & myself worked on the gardens at the 10th & the 2nd, weeding, removing shrubs,  transplanting some of the shrubs to other gardens, picking up rubbish & spreading the mulch.

Peter was the gofer & removed rubbish to the tip & generally supervised.

The work achieved today by our workers was very much appreciated & we all earned our morning tea of mini cakes from Chef John.  Thanks John!

The gardens are looking much tidier thanks to the new weeding and mulching.

Peter Davidson has donated a trailer to F-Troop which will be a huge bonus for us.  THANKS PETER!

Margaret Mackie has donated a beautiful bromiliad to the gardens which has yet to be placed in it's home. THANKS MARGARET!

YES!  WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
