F-Troop Monday 9th August 2010

I was so impressed with our F-Troopers today, each and every one of them put in a big effort to get through all our tasks set for the day. We achieved a lot of work - more in fact that I thought was possible. Congratulations to all of our workers - Geoff Bridge, Peter Murphy, Warren Gray, Martin Gallagher, Des Wilson, Peter Martin, George Foster, Richard Casey, Bruce White, Kerry Cubis, John Coddington (electrician), Dave Flanagan (builder). Georgina Lamb, Yvonne Wilson & Leonie Casey.
Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Peter Murphy & Warren Gray put in a big day removing a nuisance tree on the course & picking up loose timber and rubbish from around the course. Martin & Geoff also did some more timber deliveries after helping out in the pro shop work & garden mulching work.
We needed to remove everything that was in the room so that the carpet could be pulled up and removed - so it was all hands on deck to find a new home for all the bits and pieces & furniture that had been stored in the new buggy room.
Bruce White, Kerry Cubis & Richard Casey set to work removing the old carpet from the pro shop & then cut it into strips for use as garden weed matting - no easy task. Peter Martin, George Foster & Des Wilson completed the wall panelling in the buggy room & also the preparation of the shelving. Richard & Kerry helped out the fitting of the wall brackets and the shelving which was also a huge task.
We received a load of wood chip mulch that needed to be spread on the newly carpeted area of the garden. Georgina & I chipped out the weeds and laid the carpet strips & then helped to spread out the woodchip mulch. Kerry Cubis, Bruce White & Martin Gallagher worked on the spreading of the mulching. Assisted by Kerry Cubis & Peter Martin with a further load of wood chip from our storage area. Leonie Casey helped out with some weeding, mulching, raking and tidying of the garden area where we had worked all day.
The gardens we completed today look really good with the woodchip finish & should stay reasonably maintenance free for a long period of time. The garden does not look big at a glance but it is quite a big area when the work needs to be done.

This area is our "Front Door" and needs to be kept immaculate at all times - hopefully the work we put in today will accomplish that.
Yvonne Wilson put in some hard yards planting out some new begonias at the 14th "Bush Toilet" gardens to give them some colour for spring.
The Pro Shop buggy rooms are quickly transforming and are ready now for a final coat of paint this week. The washroom & toilet area are progressing with Trevor Blackburn (Tiler) commencing tiling work there this week.
It has been a long hard day for our workers and much was accomplished.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
