Golf - Thursday 3rd September 2009

The weather was made to order today - nice and sunny for golf with showers in the afternoon after our golf had finished so the course and gardens can be refreshed. The newly sanded greens will appreciate the rain - Perfect!
I had a lovely day with my playing partners Rosie Judd and Robyn Phillips from Terrigal. We had some good highlights and thought that we putted better with the greens sanded. A lot of our girls were participating in a special day at Wyong today so our 32 starters for the day was good.
The Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stableford over the field.
RESULTS:
WINNER: Yvonne Cumming - 43 points
RUNNER UP: Jan Martin - 39 points on a countback
3RD: So Lee - 39 points
4TH: Marie Gledhill - 38 points on a countback
5TH: Val Scott - 38 points on a countback
NEAREST THE PIN - 14TH HOLE
0 - 30: Anne Burke
31-45 Second shot: Beulah Cant
EAGLES NEST WON BY: Bev Way 25cms - 8 Balls
AWCR LADIES: 73 (36 points)
BALLS WENT TO: 36 points
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Robyn Phillips (Terrigal) did a great drive onto the green at the 14th; Rosie Judd was on the 6th green for 3; Bev Way nearly got a hole in one at the 12th - getting a birdie and winning the Eagles Nest; Judy Verlander had a 4 pointer on the 12th; Val Scott had a 4 pointer; Chris Drakeford parred the 10th and the 11th; Marie Gledhill and Sheena Asken both had birdies at the 11th; Helen Stuart parred the 1st; Yvonne Cumming had a birdie at the 16th and scored 43 points; my highlight was a 4/4 at the 13th.
I have thrown in a couple of photos of some roses out in my garden to prove that spring is here.
