Golf - Sunday 6th September 2009

It was a magic day for golf today - blue sky and sunshine, a nice breeze but not too cold. Just right for our Sunday mixed golf day.

Our playing partners today were John & Julie Hazzard - always great company. We had some good highlights throughout the match not the least of which was the girls beating the boys for the all important Keno Ticket.

The Event of the day was a Medley 2 Ball Team Plus Single Stableford for Men and Ladies and we had 104 starters with 4 visitors from Terrigal.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Lynn Puiatti had a 5/4 on the 2nd; Garry Trigg had 39 points including a birdie; John Hazzard had some great drives and chip shots to the green; Arthur Collien had a birdie on the 2nd; Bruce White had his faiway shot on the 18th resting against a waterpipe near the dam on the 18th, Arthur Collien convinced him that he should have a go at hitting the ball instead of taking an unplayable penalty. Bruce hit the end of the pipe instead of the ball & nearly ended up in the dam with no help from Arthur who was overcome with laughter; Vicki Foster putted in off the green on the 18th for 5/3; Anne Stimpson putted a 30 footer downhill on the 8th for 3/4 par; Wally Robertson had a birdie on the 16th and birdied the 18th after a bunker shot; Vicky Morris had a 4/4 on the 17th; Rae Brown had a par on the 10th; Graham Brown lost one of his "Father's Day' golf balls in the dam but managed to extract it; David Small had 2/4 birdie on the 12th; Joyce Bosley has 2/4 on the 8th; Wally Bailey had a birdie on the 4th; Bob Knox had 40 points including a birdie and 2 penalties; Spencer Walklate had a steady game for his 40 points; Elly Van Den Berg had 38 points; Kerry Cubis had a birdie at the 2nd and the 18th; Garry Trigg birdied the 3rd; Helen Stuart parred some of the the par 3's; my highlight was playing a steady game - not wiping any holes and not shanking into the bunker at the 18th as I did the previous week & managed to score an important 6/2 to finish.
