Golf - Sunday 9th August 2009

It was a rather eventful day with the Fire Brigade arriving mid competition to control a fire that had erupted at the 17th - interupting a good days golf for some of our players. We have no idea what started the fire however it was not all bad as it was only excess course rubbish that was destroyed & that would have only built up to a bigger fire hazzard come summer. There was no damage done to the important parts of the course or our trees in that area.
Our playing partners today were Peter & Margaret Davidson. We had a very sociable day made even better by the boys losing the keno ticket.
The Event of the day was a Singles for Men and Ladies Plus Medley Teams Event - Split Sixes.
We had 115 starters with 12 visitors from Eastwood, Everglades, Fox Hills, Kempsey, Terrigal, Toronto, Wyong and Yowani

Many thanks to Stephen Phillips for his photo of the fire hazard on the 17th - mid competition.
I had a complaint through the week that our "Joel" (first grandchild) has not been featured on the blog for some weeks - so a photo taken this morning is attached.
I hope you are all enjoying the beauty of our lovely Magnolia trees out in bloom at the moment.
Attached is a photo of the lemon magnolia near the 18th green.
F-Troop is on tomorrow morning and we need as much help as we can get to get the course looking at its best for next Sunday's Pro Am. F- Troop will be meeting tomorrow morning at the greenkeepers shed between 7.15 am to 7.30 am to commence work. Your time would be appreciated even if you can only help for a small amount of time. If you can only come later on in the morning then you will find some of the F-Troop team working at the new garden area at the putting green.
