F-Troop - Monday 10th August 2009

We were down on members today for a variety of reasons which made it tough on our regulars to pick up the slack - however pick up the slack they did. We had 7 troopers on hand including Noel Fenning, Geoff Bridge, Warren Gray, Des Wilson, Peter Murphy & Peter Martin.
We cleaned, raked and picked up a heap of loose timber & rubbish from around the course,
prepared for a gravel path at the putting green, mulched the new garden & completed the weeding of that area. For the small number of helpers we achieved great things & the course looks much better for it.
I was saddened to find that vandals had been at the course overnight- damaging some of the Pro-Am signs at the 12th tee and destroying the garden accessories in the ladies garden. Fortunately to garden seat and side tables were secured well enough that they could not be removed. The accessories can be replaced.
The fire at the 17th continued to burn but is not causing any danger & will burn out. We have no explanation for how the fire started but it did co-incide with vandals on the course so assumptions could be made. Reducing the fire hazzard was not a bad thing - so no damage done!
Lots of other F-Troop work has continued through the week with Des & Yvonne Wilson looking after the gardens at the 5th, 14th and 15th getting them into imaculate condition. Clyde Cruickshanks has been spending some time at the new garden & was spotted today at the new garden painting a protective coat onto the the garden visuals to keep them in pristine condition.
Many thanks to all our helpers who often put in hours on the course in their own time looking after their special patch.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Just in case you missed the last one I have attached another cute photo of our Joel taken recently.
