Golf - Tuesday 23rd June 2009

Today was the second round of the Ladies Club Championships which has been reduced to a 54 hole competition due to the state of the course. The final round will be held this coming Thursday 25th June. We had 61 starters today.
It was a lovely sunny day at least, however the ground was very wet, heavy and boggy making good scoring hard to come by - as you can see by the scoreboard. Preferred lies throughout the green was beneficial but the deep puddles of water throughout the fairways was very hard to play through. Congratulations to all the girls who came in with respectable scores today - you certainly earned some credits for getting your good shots together in these conditions.
My playing partners today were Julie Hazzard & Lesley Gregory & they were great company. Lesley & I were very happy that we bought Julie home as a winner of todays event in our division. We did not have a huge lot of highlights but Julie played a nice steady game. Well done Julie!

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me were hard to come by today. I would have been deluged with low-lights but we don't really want to know about those. Helen Potter had a couple of good pars and did some good putting; Rosalie Dyer did a great saving putt for a par; Barbara Stratford had two pars; Lesley Gregory had a good par on the 12th; my highlight was bringing Julie Hazzard home as a winner and another highlight was seeing Anne Burgess out observing for us on the course wearing her rainbow coloured gum boots. (photo attached) They were a very appropriate choice for today.
