Golf - Sunday 21st June 2009

This is not the greatest "Golf" weather that we could be having but the Gosford Course has remained open and is playable in spite of all the rain that we have had this week. Years gone by this course would have not have been playable so we have to appreciate the improvements of the last few years. Those of us that are not "Big" hitters do suffer from all the water under foot because there is no run at all on the fairways - but the greens have stayed in good condition.
I don't think I have ever played on the course when it has been so wet underfoot but still playable. The water on the fairways has no where to go & we are still having daily showers to top it off so the puddles remain permanant until we have some sunshine and wind to dry them off.
We have to take the good with the bad and fortunately we did have great company with Mary Bromwich and Warren Gray who made the day worthwhile. We did have some highlights with Peter playing well coming home with 38 points, Warren Gray getting a good birdie on the 5th & Mary Bromwich did some great chips & came in with some good 3 pointers when we needed them most. The boys won the Keno ticket but had to play serious golf on the last few holes to cement their position.
The Event of the day was reduced to a Single Stableford for Men and Ladies.
We had 48 starters with 2 visitors from Queenbeyan and Wyong.
