Golf - Sunday 14th June 2009

In case anyone of you could have possibly missed it - It is George Foster's 70th birthday that has been celebrated for quite some weeks continuing to last night at Alexander's Restaurant where George was "Surprised" with another party & the merriment continued. George told me that he would have turned 7o ages ago if he had have known what a good time he was going to have.
The weather fortunately held together for most of the day & the little showers we had were not emough to blame our bad golf scores on. We had a game with my brother Graham & his lovely wife Anne who travelled from Sydney for the day which gave us the opportunity to show off our new grandson Joel prior to playing golf. We had a good day with some highlights from Graham getting a couple of 4 pointers to brighten the day.
The Event of the day was a Split Sixes Team Event plus Singles Mixed Men and Ladies.
We had 105 starters with 10 visitors from Coach Cam, Everglades, Magenta Shores, Marrickville, Massey Park, Riverside Oaks, Tanilba Bay & Trundle.
RESULTS:
TEAM WINNERS: Bruce Binns, Leanne Binns, Fraser Bates and Lyn Bates - 98 points

RUNNER UP: Leanne Binns - 37 points

NEAREST THE PINS:
MEN'S 12TH: J Harris
LADIES 8TH: Anne Forrester
BALLS WENT TO: MEN: 36 points neat; LADIES: 30 points neat
CCR: 69 (38 points); AWCR LADIES: 73 (36 points)
HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: as reported to me: Clyde Cruickshanks almost got a hole in one on the 5th with the ball curling around the hole to rest just behind it; Clyde Cruickshanks and Kerry Cubis both birdied the 18th; Anne Smith cleared the water on the 3rd with a lovely drive and also followed that up with a lovely drive on the 7th - her best of the day; my highlights were getting two 3 pointers in a row on the 14th and 15th; Peter Davidson & Brett Frewin both got 42 points and won a ball.
It was nice to see Rob & Robin Brann on the course today. Welcome back! It was also good to see our Members using the new table & chairs placed at the putting green. These amenities were donated to the club from Ron & Chris Dekker. F Troop are working hard at getting this area finished very soon.
