F-Troop - Monday 15th June 2009

We had a very productive day at F-Troop today and there were plenty of projects on hand.

We had a good turn up of 14 workers including Duncan Dyer, Bruce White, Martin Gallagher, Doug Incoll, George Foster, Geoff Bridge, Arthur Verlander, Peter Martin, Peter Murphy, Warren Gray, Clyde Cruickshanks, Garry Trigg and Jan Walker.

The boys cleared some trees at the 17th including some Camphour Laurels at the 13th that needed to come out, loose timber & sticks around the course. Garry Trigg did the rough mowing. Jan Walker did some good raking and clearing around the first & the front area. Arthur Verlander, Peter Martin, Peter Murphy & Clyde Cruickshanks worked on the new garden area. Doug Incoll did some maintenance on the putting green garden after he had finished his duties with the tree removal.
Through the week we received advice that the Golf Ladies were donating $200 towards our garden projects. Clyde had the bark & gravel ready for F-Troop to finish off the new table & chairs area at the putting green & also for the finishing off of the new garden at the practice nets.
The gardens there are near completion - only needing a little for bark mulching and two garden benches. Bev Way has donated two gardenias which we have placed at the table & chair area.
Our thanks to the ladies commitee & to Bev Way for their generous donations which enabled us to proceed with this project.
We planted a new white Crepe Myrtle at the back of the temporary green at the second and are awaiting the arrival of the third Crepe Myrtle to complete that project.
We have been successful in selling some of our timber offcuts which have been stored through the year as the dangerous trees have been removed around the course. To date we have had sales totalling $465.00 which have been put towards the beautification projects on hand.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
