Golf - Sunday 13th October 2013

We had a very hot blustery wind to contend with today which was very offputing at times, however without the wind the heat would have been unbearable and we would have all been melted butterballs.

Our playing partners were Clyde & Lyn Cruickshanks and we had a lovely day with some great highlights not the least of which was the girls soundly beating the boys for the Keno Ticket.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team Mixed Men and Ladies.

We had 82 starters with 11 visitors from Castle Hill & Hunter Valley.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Clyde Cruickshanks had 3 birdies - gobbler birdies on the 3rd and the 4th and a fabulous birdie on the 13th with a long 160 foot shot to within 2 foot of the pin; Lyn Cruickshanks had a beautiful 4/4 on the 9th after being on the green for 2; John Hazzard had 3/5 on the first after turning in 21; Spencer Walklate's highlight was being out there; Arthur Haviland parred the 8th and had 5/3 on the 9th; Joyce Bosley parred the 3rd and the 4th;  Dick Bosley had 4/3/4 on the back nine; Rhonda Robertson and Sandy Laybutt both had a birdie on the 8th; Peter Laybutt had a birdie on the 10th and the boys won the keno ticket; Ray Buttsworth had 4/4 on the 7th; Carolyn Buttsworth had 3/4 on the 8th; Bert Brink had 2 birdies on the front 9; David Small had a birdie on the 16th and had bought two of the Aldi shoe cupboards (in white); Kevin O'Brien had a birdie on the 8th; my highlight was turning in 21, having no wipes and winning a ball.

Col Matterson hit his ball to the edge of the dam on the 15th and was reported as being seen without his golf shirt being extracted from the dam with the help of George Foster.  On further investigation it was found that Col had climbed down to his ball to decide whether to try and hit it or not, the idea was aborted when col's feet slipped further into the soft mud at the edge of th dam and he had to be assisted from the dam to continue his game.

My thanks to Vicki Foster for her photo of Col Matterson extracting himself out of the 15th dam and to David Small for his photo of the Aldi Shoe cupboard.
