Golf - Sunday 18th August 2013

Well Peter was Runner Up for half a day
 until the computer system re-calculated
a new winner

What a magic day it was to be out on the golf course today.  Blue sky and sunshine made to order and the course in beautiful shape.

Our playing partners were Nigel & Sheena Asken who were delightful company (as usual) and we had a great day with some good highlights, Nigel getting a birdie and Peter coming in Runner Up with a good score of 38 points.  The Boys beat the Girls for the Keno Ticket but had to put pressure on until the 17th to do it.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford + 2 Ball Team Mixed Men and Ladies.

We had 77 starters with 9 visitors from North Ryde, Terrigal & The Springs.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me:  Nigel Asken had a birdie 3/4 at the 11th and two nice chip shots to the green at the 13th and the 16th; Joyce Bosley had 4/4 at the 15th; Wally Robertson had two 4 pointers that were tap ins at the 9th and the 17th; Lynda Hartley had a gobbler putt off the back of the hill behind the green at the 2nd; Ian Hartley had 4 pointers at the 3rd and the 17th; Neville Walker had 4/3 at the 16th and 5/3 at the 17th; Rae Brown had two 4 pointers at the 12th and the 16th; Robin Incoll drove to the green on the 5th for the first time ever and chipped in for a gobbler par at the 18th; Doug Incoll is an improved player; Elly Van Den Berg had two 3 pointers and a good par on the 3rd; Robyn Johnston had a 4 pointer at the 3rd; Wally Johnston was an improved player and managed to scramble one point on the 6th after his difficult lie cuddling a tree (photo attached) ; Walter Loschi had birdies at the 4th and the 18th; Suzanne Waugh was not discouraged; Robin Brann & Anne Forrester beat the boys for the Keno Ticket; Robin Brann had a 4 pointer at the 11th; Lorraine Bignall had a par at the 16th after being at the back of the green for two; Jann Henebury had 21 points on the front 9 including two 4 pointers; Suzanne Bourne & Julie Hazzard combined well and beat the boys for the Keno Ticket; John Hazzard had 20 points on the back 9; my highlight was not having a wipe.

On Saturday Spencer Walklate hit his drive to the 8th green and finished in the dip on the left hand side of the fairway. Spencer lined up his second shot and hit a lovely shot up to the pin which was intercepted by a plover in flight which diverted the ball 20 foot from the pin.

There has been a SECOND CHANGE in the Men's Singles Results as previously posted. The results above are now correct.  Please check with the Pro Shop regarding the results of the Ball Competition.
