We know it is spring when the duck families multiply
a family of ducks at the 3rd dam

We had a lovely warm spring day for our golf today with the exception of some gusty wind from time to time, it was a pleasant day.  Our playing partners today were Terry & Sandra Coyle who were good company and we managed to get some good pars happening from time to time.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men and Women.

We had 73 starters
 with 2 visitors from Shelly Beach & Killara.

MEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER: Andrew Henebury - 44 points

RUNNER UP: Graham Aldcroft - 41 points

3RD PLACE: Duncan Dyer - 39 points on a countback

WOMEN'S SINGLES RESULTS:

WINNER: Joyce Bosley - 45 points

RUNNER UP: Tania Walklate - 43 points

3RD:  Sheena Asken - 41 points

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Joyce Bosley hit the ball well for her 45 points which included two 4 pointers; Terry Coyle had pars on the 1st, 3rd, 14th and was on the 12th green for 1; Sandra Coyle played a good back 9 and parred the 1st hole; Peter Martin had 39 points and had pars at the 2/3/4/6th; Di Beechey scored a nice 38 points and had a birdie on the 11th; Clyde Cruickshanks had a birdie on the 5th; Leonie Margin had 25 points on the front 9; Brett Margin had 10 putts at birdies and managed to succeed at the 11th and the 14th; Rosalie Dyer had six 3 pointers on the back 9 scoring 21 points on the nine; Duncan Dyer had 23 points the back 9 and his highlight was beating Peter Martin on a countback; Tania Walklate had no wipes and drove to the green on the 8th, 12th and 14th; Geraldine Turner had a good game, scoring 39 points and no wipes; Sheena Asken had a birdie on the 17th and scored a nice 41 points; Annie Brink played well for her 38 points; Andrew Henebury had his best game in a while scoring a win in the singles; Brent Frewin had a birdie on the 14th; Rod Winter ( a new member)  enjoyed the company of Russell Willings and Mel Forster having an awesome day; Mel Forster had 23 points on the back 9 and had 4/4 on the 17th; my highlight was back to finishing with the same ball I started with, avoided all water and bunkers.

I understand that a red bellied black snake was spotted at the 2nd fairway today so it is time to be aware that snake season is approaching.

I have had more members showing concern for the Japanese Elm tree at the 6th that has just had a trim of the excess and dangerous branches.  If you look closely at the tree right now you will see new shoots emerging from every branch of the tree - they are only two to three inches in length but there are many of them and they will soon spring the tree back to normal growth.  The tree was pruned at the right time of the year while it is in dormant stage.
