Golf - Sunday 18th September 2016

Eddie Rogers (Runner Up Men's Singles) and Carolyn Buttsworth (Winner Ladies Singles)
with President Paul Scholberg.

With Paul and Angelique Scholberg at the 10th Tee (before the rain set in)

Vicki Foster's drive from the 9th Tee had a rather unfortunate settling spot

Robbie Whyte's shot at the 1st (another unfortunate settling spot)

Our playing partners today (which was to have been Legacy Day) was Paul and Angelique Scholberg.
In our wisdom (after checking the radar) we decided that there would only be light rain for a short while and then it would all clear to a perfect golf day.   Wrong! The first few holes were acceptable, but instead of getting better it got worse to the point that we were playing through steady rain! Not happy Jan! We were lucky that the company was good because our golf got a bit ordinary at times. Our best highlight was Angelique's gobbler chip in on the 5th hole.

The Golf Event of the day was to have been Legacy Day Team Event which was wisely cancelled due to the inclemant weather and the Legacy Cup cancelled until next year. Instead there was a Single Stableford for Men and Women for those still willing to play.

We had 45 starters.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Angelique Scholberg had a gobbler on the 5th; Paul Scholberg had a lot of good pars; Carolyn Buttsworth had 37 points playing steady golf in steady rain; Kay Baillie's highlight was finishing with a 6/3 in the pouring rain on the 18th; Ray Buttsworth had 5/4 on the 10th; Vicki Foster scored a nice 31 points including a 658 ft putt at the 17th for 5/3; George Foster scored a great 39 points including a birdie on the 2nd; Doug Incoll had 3/4 on the 5th; Anne Forrester and Brent Frewin both scored a nice 34 points each; Jan Walker had 6/3 at the 10th, 4/4 at the 11th, 4/3 at the 1st; Robbie Whyte's highlight was playing with Craig, Derek and Eddie; my highlight was definitely finishing and being an improved player on the second nine. I am not a wet weather golfer so finishing today was very good.
