The Special Olympics in the Sunset Room

What a mix of a day! - from sunshine, heat and humidity, light showers, torrential downpour to a lovely pleasant afternoon.

Our playing partners today were Duncan and Rosalie Dyer and we had a great day until we reached the 7th fairway.  We had a fierce competition going on for the Keno Ticket and the boys were narrowly ahead at the time that we had to admit defeat to the weather and the greens were awash and we were wet through. Our highlight of the day was Peter's 3rd shot on the 2nd when his ball hit a sprinkler head and rebounded across the fairway and landed close to the water in the trees at the left of the green, before we could get to the ball a crow flew down and picked up the ball and flew back to the trees along Racecourse Road - never to be seen again.

The Golf Event of the day was a Single Stableford for Men and Ladies (changed as there were only about a dozen that finished and that included the early morning starters.

We had 77 starters with 1 visitor from Shelly Beach.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Ray Buttsworth had 5/4 on the second; our highlight was getting in six holes before the deluge and enjoying an afternoon at the clubhouse listening to the Jazz festival which attracted about 100 visitors to our club which was great in the circumstances of lack of golfers.  In addition to that we had 50 members of the Special Olympics which was a state wide event.

It was great to see so many people in the clubhouse and having our Bistro open on a Sunday which allowed us to stay on more dinner after golf.
